The lone boys finished in second place with a overall score o f 126. The girls also finished in second with a score o f 107. Andrew Rietmann finished first in three events. He had a time of 11.46 in the 100m, 23.63 in the 200m, and a jump of 39-7 in the triple jump, which w as a personal record. The 400m relay team o f Mike Radie, Andrew Rietmann. Korey Morgan and Brooks Rea finished in first place with a time o f 45.99. Brooks Rea finished third in the 100m w'lth a time o f 11.89 and fourth in the 200m with a time of 24.62. Mike Radie took sixth in the 100m with a time o f 12.06 and finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.02. Jeremiah McElligott finished sixth in the 1500m with a time of5:04.14and fourth in the 3000m run wath a time of 11:46.25. Cody Bergstrom finished seventh in the 1500m with a time of 5:06.52 and fourth in the 800m w ith a time of 2:26.92. Jeremy Rietmann placed third in the 400m with a time of 58.27; he also finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 16-4 and third in the triple jump with a jump of 33-2. Korey Morgan finished second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.05. Corey Bennetto finished fourth in the shotput with a throw of 42-9; he also finished fourth in the discus with a throw o f 116-0, and third in the javelin with a throw' of 130-1. Tim Doherty placed seventh in the 800m with a time o f 3:03.76. Cayle Krebs finished seventh in the shotput with a toss of 33-2; he also finished seventh in the discus with a throw o f 94-10 and eighth in the javelin with a throw of 91 -4. Til Tullis took seventh in the long jum p with a jump of 15-1. The 1600m relay team of Mike Radie, Til Tullis. Tim Doherty and Cody Bergstrom finished in fourth place with a time o f 4:31.91. On the girls side, Diana McElligott took first place in the 100m w ith a time of 13.02; she was also first in the 200m with a time o f 27.12 and first in the 400m with a time of 1:01.99. Cyndi Heagy finished second in the 100m with a time of 13.59; she also placed fifth in the 200m with a time o f 29.29 and fourth in the 400m with a time of 1:06.01. Natalie McElligott took first place in the high jump with C ody B ergstrom a jump of 4-6; she also finished first in the triple jump w ith a jump of 31-8. and fifth in the long jump w ith a jump of 14-3. Amelia Peck finished first in the 100m hurdles with qfime o f 17.37. She also finished second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 52.41 and fourth in the long jump with a jump of 14-3. Jaysi Bennetto took sixth in the triple jump with a jum p of 27-9. Mustangs take first with win over Rockets By Rick Paullus The Heppner Mustang baseball team took over first place in the Columbia Basin Conference East Division with a 9-6 win over the visiting Pilot Rock Rockets on Tuesday. April 24. The Mustangs moved to 5 and 1 in the CBC and 11-4-1 overall. The Rockets fell to 4-2 The Rockets scored two runs in the top of the second, but the Mustangs came back w ith four in the bottom half to take the lead. Travis Bellamy and Donald Adams singled. Josh Winters bunted them over to second and third, and Chuy Elguezabal walked to lead the bases. Stefan Matheny scored one with a single. Michael McCabe scored two more on another single and Billy Gates had an RBI double. In the third, Bellamy doubled and later scored on a Matheny groundout to make it 5-2. The Mustangs got solo homeruns from Gates and Brad Adams in the fourth to make it 7-2, but the Rockets came back with three runs in the fifth and anofher in the sixth to narrow the lead to 7-6. In the bottom half of the sixth. Brad Adams singled and scored on Bellamy's double. Donald Adams was hit by a pitch, Luke Murray walked and Elguezabal walked to score a run and make it 9-6. The Rockets threatened in the seventh, but Matheny closed the door to get the save. McCabe started and went five innings to get the win. O f the Rockets' six runs, four of them reached on w alks and the other two reached on errors as they managed only four hits themselves. They were Tigers Zach Hintz, Cody Orr and Drew' Brannon: Wolves Devin Robinson and Seth Palmer; Bears Curtis Harper. Bryan Holland and Drew Johnson; and Webelos Matt Holland. Spencer Palmer and Chris Hickerson. All the boys were prior w inners at the Heppner Pinewood Derby. Four boys came home with trophies. Zach Hintz placed second in the Tiger Division. Devin Robinson placed first in the Wolf Division. Spencer Palmer won third place in the Webelo Division. In the overall results. Devin Robinson was reserve grand champion. In the sibling and non-competitor race, future scout Skylar Palmer came in fourth against some tough adult competition. About 60 competitors raced on a four lane 48 foot aluminum track in double-elimination format. High School rodeo action moves to Hermiston Oregon High School Rodeo action took place in Hermiston on April 28-29. Blake Knowles. Heppner. led the local contingent with a championship score in the boys’ cutting of 70. In the steer wrestling he turfed his steer in 6.18 for fourth place. Condon's Marne Wilkins placed in three events. She prov ed you can turn a somersault and tie a goat in 10.6 seconds, which was good for third place, while a 3.18 in the breakaway roping took fifth place. Her horse has been out with an injury for the past three weeks, so she climbed on a borrowed horse and turned in a 22.049 in the pole bending for 10th place Heppner’s Lacey Matteson turned the barrels in 18.426 to grab eighth place.
