Ione Junior High ends season 11 and 0

The lone Junior High Cardinals,
coached by Nathan Heideman. ended
their season with an 11-0 record,,
which included first place at the
annual junior high tournament on
Feb. 3 in Helix.
The boys' success, which earned
over from their football season, may
be attnbuted from their willingness
to work together as a team.
Team members included Tyler
Raible, Arthur F.kstrom, Taylor
McEUigott and Nick Christman,
all eighth graders; and William
Heppner JV girls lose to Rockets
Bergstrom, James Acock, Kyle
Palmateer, Tyler Brown and Kelly
Thompson, all seventh graders.
The team w ill compete in the
"Grande Ronde Valley Shootout"
youth tournament in LaGrande on
Feb. 24- 25.

The junior varsity Heppner
girls were only able to contain
Pilot Rock's JVs for the first
quarter on Friday, February 16.
After posting only five points in
the first eight minutes, the young
Rockets turned on their after
burners to blast in 49 additional
counters and run away from the
Mustangs.
Kelsey Greenup and Stefanie
Hanson both scored seven points,
with Marcy Miller putting in six
to lead Heppner's scoring.
