Ione wins season opener against Spray-Mitchell

three receptions tor Morgan for a
total of 55 yards and one by
Adam Neiffer for 16 yards.
In the third quarter lone
pressed on by out-scoring Spray
22 to 6. In the fourth quarter
lone's second team was brought
in and the victory was complete
with a final score of 62-32.

Mitchell on September 8.
At end of the first quarter the
game was tied at eight. Burrighl
ran 35 yards tor the touchdown
and offensive end
Morgan
caught a pass by Brooks Rea for
the two-point conversion. Spray
answered back with a 25-yard
run and two extra points to tie the
score
lone came on strong in the
second quarter, scoring three
touchdowns to Spray's one. Rea
ran for two of the touchdowns
and Rietmann ran one in from
three yards out.

St Patrick's parish will begin
the "Come As You Are" program
on Monday, Sept 18. in the
parish office at 7:36 pm The
program is an invitation to "slow
down and walk" through life so
people can notice and appreciate
more ot it As listening is pan ot
life, so. too. is it at the heart of
this program, which connects
human life with spiritual life.
On T uesday. Sept 19. inquiry
into the teachir gs of the Catholic
Church will begin at 7:30 p.m in
the parish office This program is
for individuals simply wishing to
explore the teachings of the
church, for individuals who may
w ish to become members of the
church, and for individuals who
may wish to pursue a "refresher"
course.

of these two programs is

Area student earns scholarship
Tom Kemp. Lexington, has
received a $1.000 scholarship
from Agriculture Women - m
Network through the Oregon
Student Assistance Commission.
Kemp, an agriculture/busmess
finance senior at the University
of Idaho, recently returned from
the National Ag Business Quiz
Bowl in Tampa, FL. where she
help organized and develop the
questions for the contests.
Kemp maintains a 3.95 GPA
and is a 1997 graduate of
Fleppner High School. She is the
daughter of Gary and Marcia
Kemp. Lexington
