Advisory boards discuss projects
for proposed bond levy
Class of 1980 holds reunion
lhe Heppner Class of 1980 recently held their 20th class reunion
with 30 classmates in attendance
l he class awarded "most changed" and "traveled the farthest" to
Bill Huston of Freehold. New Jersey. "Least changed" was Paula
Heinrichs; "youngest child" to Claudia Huston Smythe:
"triathalon" to Dale Holland and "most inspirational" to Gen
Grieb.

Oregon State University. She is employed by Northwest farm

Schmitt is the son of Ray and Joan Schmitt of Sprague. W A. I le
graduated from Sprague High School and Washington State
University, and also received his MBA degree from Eastern
Washington University. He is currently employed at Western Bank
in Spokane. WA.

The Morrow County Arts and
Crafts group has planned a trip to
the coast through Sisters into
Newport on Oct. 13-15.
After an overnight on the
beach, the group w ill tour Oregon
Coast Aquarium and Old Town
before they travel to Lincoln City.
The Smoky Robinson show at the
Chinook Winds Casino is included
in the overnight stay in Lincoln
City.
Coming east again. the group
will make a stop at Evergreen
Aviation in McMinnevillc and at
the new Chinese Gardens in Port­
land.

Morrow C ounty School
District advisory boards are
holding a series of meetings to
discuss
school
building
construction projects for possible
inclusion in the school bond
election proposed for March
Preliminary lists of projects
have been compiled for each
school. The following lists are
only tentative and are not listed
in order of priority.
Heppner Elementary
School
-Energy efficient windows for
all classrooms in the old section
of the building.
-Tile hallways, classrooms and
entry way. Asbestos tiling is
breaking in all areas and needs to
be replaced.
-New roof for main
building/old section.
Additionally, if the old
building and gymnasium are tom
down:
-Build
cafeteria-
auditorium gym nasium /band
room connected to main
building.
-Add parking area and bus
loading zone.
-Reroute Stansbury Street.
If the buildings remain
-C lose off upper floors of
Heppner Junior High.
-Construct sidewalk rails next
to the gymnasium.
-Remove trees and pave
portion of HJH front for
additional parking.
-New roof on gymnasium.
New ceiling in band room.

-New elementary school.
-Maintenance projects for high
school.
Heppner High School
-New roof on both buildings.
-Prepare, paint and seal
exterior of buildings.
-Replace sidewalks and
exterior steps in front of school.
-Remove old floor tile and
replace with new in all
classrooms and at main entry
-Prepare each room for future
distance teaming.
-Remove existing darkroom
and build new one in shop.
-Add electrical outlets to all
classrooms
-New ceiling tile in lower hall.
-Build storage shelves and
book shelves in all classrooms
-Replace existing windows
with energy efficient windows.
-Renovate storage under gym
and upper wing.
-New mtercom/clock system
-Enlarge principal’s office
space.
-Completely renovate and
enlarge both boys’ and girls’
locker rooms.
-Move storage rooms for P.E.
and sports.
-Remove gym floor ana put
down new floor.
-Seal coat existing parking lots.
-Pave parking lot at end of gym.
-Pave road to baseball field.
-Building retaining wall at
baseball field.
-New practice gym.
-New all-weather track
