Local student to attend
fashion institute
Wheat Growers plan workshop
The Oregon Wheat Growers
League, in conjunction with the
Morrow County Wheat Growers,
have scheduled Monday, August
21, as the date for a risk
management workshop entitled,
"The Three C's of Success - Crop
Insurance; Computers; and
Contracts.
The workshop is funded by a
grant from the USDA Risk
Management
Agency.
The
workshop will be held at the
Heppner Elks Club from 9 a.m.-2
p.m., with lunch included
(sponsored in part by Rain and
Hail, LLC).
Attendees will hear from
representatives of the Risk
Management Agency about
major legislative changes in the
crop insurance program to assist
them in their decisions prior to
the sales closing date of
September 30.
They will also obtain some
new insights on contract
negotiations and skills for
reviewing and determining the
viability of contracts before they
sign.
The third component of this
workshop is the "hands on"
computer lab to educate the
attendees on how to make some
of the common computer
programs work more effectively
in their farm operations.
Persons interested in attending
this workshop should contact the
office of the Oregon Wheat
Growers League to register their
attendance.
A fee of $10 will be charged to
each attendee. The fee can be
paid
in
advance
with
Visa/MasterCard or personal
check. Attendees are encouraged
to register their participation by
calling the OWGL office at (541)
276-7330. Workshop is subject
to cancellation if pre-registration
is low.

Morrow County District
Attorney David D. Allen has
released the following report of
business conducted:
Jody Lea Hendricks plead
guilty to delivery of a controlled
substance-methamphetamine and
possession of a controlled
substance. On the first count,
Hendricks was sentenced to 36
months' probation and 80 hours
of community service and was
ordered to complete a drug
package, with a revocation of
driving privileges for six months.
On the second count, Hendricks
was sentenced to 18 months'
probation, and 80 hours of
community service. Henncks
was also ordered to pay $ 1,138 in
fines, fees and assessments.

lone Preschool plans open house
Macy Rhea of Heppner has
been accepted by the Fashion
Institute
of
Design
and
Merchandising (FIDM) in Los
Angeles, CA., majoring in
merchandise marketing.
Macy is a 2000 graduate of
Heppner High School and is
looking forward to a career in the
fashion industry.

Pathfinder Club
registration set
Creative Care Preschool in
lone will hold an open house on
Saturday, Aug. 26, from 2-4 p.m.
at the school. Refreshments will
be served.
Th open house will provide an
opportunity for new and
returning families to meet the
new teacher, Kelly Christman,
become informed about the
building situation, and give input
on scheduling options.
The preschool also needs to
know how many students to
expect in the coming year before
the schedule can be finalized.
All three and four year olds in
the Willow Creek Valley are
welcome at Creative Care.
Financial assistance is available
for those who qualify through
Head Start.

Club, a Christian scouting club
for all youth 10-15 years, will

and Crafts Club will hold a meet
ing on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m.
at Cal’s banquet room.
A fall trip will be on the agenda
and plans will be made as to the

any places of interest for stops.
The meeting is open to the pub
lic. All members are urged to at
