Special Edition Morrow County Fair & Rodeo • Heppner Gazette-Times, Wednesday, August 9, 2000-Page 15
DJ Ed Dailey’s life centers around rodeo, teaching, ministry
A KORD/Ed Dailey variety
show featuring different local
groups and singers will be held at
the Morrow County Fair on
Friday, Aug. 18, from 5-6:30
p.m.
Arlington's Zac Grooms,
Hermiston's Jody Gaylord and
Kennewick's Jeff Montave have
been asked to sing. Plus Ed
Dailey would like local Morrow
County singers who are
interested in singing their best
song to win a prize to call him at
(509) 585-2606.
Ed Dailey's life, today, moves
in three directions at once: radio,
teaching and ministry.
Ed's father was a radio legend
in the Tri-Cities. His father,
"Cuz" Ralph Dailey, is a member
o f the Gospel Music Hall of
Fame for being a member of
recently-inducted "The Rangers
Quartet" from Dallas, Texas.
Ed grew up in radio and music
and around radio stations, talking
on the air first when he was three
years old. While growing up, Ed
had a chance to meet, work and
spend time with some of the
biggest stars in country music.
Ed was the world's youngest
licensed DJ in the world at 12
years old; since then he has been
in some aspect of radio or air
work since. KORD has been his
home for about eight years at
different time over the last 20
years. (He has worked there three
different times).
Currently Ed is host of "The
Sunday Morning Country Oldies
Show” Legends of Country with
Ed Dailey. The show airs Sunday
mornings from 7-10 a.m. The
number one-rated program plans
classic country music from the
1940s-1980s, with requests, artist
interviews and personal stories
from Ed.
In addition to the radio show,
Ed does a lot of voice work for
commercials and special
features. He has promoted
country and gospel concerts and
has put on concerts with his wife
Angie since 1989. They have one
recording released called "On the
Record for God".
Ed's full time job is being a
vocational teacher of radio/TV
broadcasting at the Tri Tech
Skills Center in Kennewick, WA.
He is in charge of the radio
program, the student-operated
radio station and recording
studio.
