In our family we visit four cemeteries, share our family history, talk to the youngest generation about the reason for hundreds o f American flags at graves and explain why the day is important. A bonus is seeing people we haven't seen for awhile as we put flowers out. In Milton-Freewater it was good to see Charlie and Dorothy Heard, former owners and editor of the Heppner Gazette. They continue to keep up with Heppner happenings through the Gazette. Orchids to the crew who put on the Pioneer Memorial Picnic. Though I missed it, word is out that it was great to have it again.
