great year," said McDowell.
A new addition this year was a
breakfast served after the walk at
All Saint's Episcopal Church by
the crew of Bob and Aloha
Despain, Monique Devin, and
Sue and Emily Thompson.
Rest stops were staffed by
Danielle McDowell, Jennifer

Merry Brannon and Macy Rhea,
"The Heppner MS Walk was a
huge success due to the
volunteers, walkers and the
generosity of this community,”
said local
chair Merilee
McDowell.
Seventy-five walkers from
Hermiston, Heppner, lone and
Spray joined thousands across
the nation to make a big
difference in the fight against
multiple sclerosis.
"Due to a great committee
consisting of George Naims, Bob
manned the registration tables.
Central Red Apple, Court Street,
Bank of Eastern Oregon,
Murray's Drug, and Bucknum's
donated food for the walk.
This year teams were formed by
the Heppner Chamber, Heppner
Lutheran Episcopal Youth,
Weight Watchers, some family
teams and a weight-lifting team
of women from Spray.
"We came close to our goal by
raising $7,000 which was three
times the amount raised last
year," said McDowell.
