The Morrow County Gun Club
house has a fresh new look with
a new coat of paint on the outside
and a thorough cleaning on the
inside. The outside light poles are
also up and the wiring should be
com pleted by next S u n d ay ’s
weekly shoot.
MCGC president Curt Day led
the way at the 16-yard line with a
perfect 25 score, followed closely
by Jeff Cutsforth with a 24 and
Mark Schlichting with a 23.
In the 20-yard handicap event,
Jeff Cutsforth was first with a 22,
Curt Day took second with a 21
and Bob Krein, Mark Schlichting
and Matt Clark split for third with
20 .
The three women shooters had
a great day on the 16-yard line
with Sandi Day shooting a per­
sonal best o f 21 o f 25, followed
by Deona Hodges, second, and
Chnssy Wall, third. At the 20-yard
line, Deona was first, Sandi, sec­
ond, and Chrissy, third.
The ju n io r sh o o ters were
“smoking” the targets again with
C hance Day taking first and
Tayler Hodges a close second.
Club members Deona Hodges
and Sandi Day also shot at a meat
shoot in Fossil on Saturday where
they won six different events be­
tween them.
The next shoot will be on Sun­
day, April 23 at 1 p.m. instead of
the regular time o f 10 a.m.

earns UI honors
The University of Idaho chapter
o f Phi Eta Sigma, a general
university freshmen honorary
society, has honored 274 students
for
academic
achievement,
including Matthew Jepsen of
Heppner.
To be eligible, a student must
be a freshman who has
completed at least 12 credits, but
no more than 25 credits, by the
end o f their first semester and
attained a grade point average of
3.5 or higher.

Willow Creek Woolies

On April 2, the sheep club met
at Emily Key's home. The first
order of business was to choose a
club name. The attending
members voted in Willow Creek
Woolies. The club has 10
members with eight members
present-Sarah Barrow, Johnny
Collin, Paul Hams, Abby Key,
Emily Key, Kaylee Palmateer,
Alan Rietmann and Alyssa
Rietmann. Lleaders are Shelly
and Tim Key and Kristy Crowell.
The group also elected officers.
President is Emily Key; vice
president is Alyssa Rietmann;
and secretary-news reporter is
Sarah Barrow.
Emily Key attended a meeting
in Hermiston and told club
members about different types of
feed and what they do for your
lamb. She also told them what to
look for when picking a sheep for
fair. Shelly Key told the group
how the 4-H Livestock program
in lone works. She also told the
group where and when they can
get permits to keep the projects
in town.
The club will meet at the Bank
of Eastern Oregon in lone to stuff
the eggs for the lone Community
Easter Egg Hunt. They will also
help hide them

COMMITTEE MEETING
A public meeting of the Bud­
get Committee o f the Morrow
County Health District, Morrow
County, State of Oregon, to dis­
cuss the budget for the fiscal year
July 1,2000 to June 30,2001 will
be held at the Home Health Con­
ference Room, Heppner, Oregon.
The meeting will take place on the
2nd day of May, 2000 at 6:30 PM.
The purpose of this meeting is to
receive the budget message and
to receive comment from the pub­
lic on the budget. A second public
meeting will take place on the 9th
of May, at the Ambulance Hall,
Boardman, Oregon at 6:30 PM.
A copy of the budget may be in­
spected or obtained on or after
April 24, 2000 at the Morrow
County Health District administra­
tive office located at 564 E. Pio­
neer Drive, Heppner, Oregon, be­
tween the hours of 8:00 am and
5:00 PM.
These are public m eetings
where deliberation of the Budget
Committee will take place. Any
person may appear at the meet­
ings and discuss the proposed pro­

NOTICE OF CREATION
OF LIVESTOCK DISTRICT
The County Clerk o f Morrow
County hereby gives notice that
the majority of all the votes cast
upon the issue is in favor o f cre­
ation of a livestock district known
as “Liberty School Livestock Dis­
trict”. On and after the 15 day o f
June, 2000, it shall be unlawful for
the following classes of livestock
to be permitted to run at large
within the boundaries of the live­
stock district: animals of the bo­
vine species, horses, mules, asses,
sheep, goats, swine and “exotic
animals” included, but are not lim­
ited to, buffalo, bison, llama, os­
trich, emu, or any animal resulting
from the crossbreeding thereof, or
the crossbreeding o f such exotic
animals with domestic animals.
ORS 607.045 provides: “No
person owning or having the cus­
tody, possession or control o f an
animal of a class of livestock shall
permit the animal to run at large
or to be herded, pastured or to go
upon the land of another in a live­
stock district in which it is unlaw­
ful for such class of livestock to
be permitted to run at large.” Vio­
lation of this statute is an Unclas­
sified Misdemeanor, punishable by
a maximum penalty o f one year
in the county jail and/or a fine in
the amount of $5,000.00.
