The lone Community Easter
Egg Hunt will be held this
Saturday, April 22, beginning at
10 a.m. sharp at the lone City
Park.
Children through fourth grade
are invited to attend. Between
2100-2200 eggs will be placed in
the park, in addition to prizes for
the younger children.
The Easter egg hunt is a long
standing event in lone with many
community
groups
and
individuals contributing. It was
started by the lone Extension
Group.
Contributors this year include
the Bank of Eastern Oregon, the
Motorcross

More than 350 4-H'ers from
across North America gathered in
Washington, D.C., on April 9-15.
The
2000
National
4-H
Conference, held at the National
4-H Center in Chevy Chase,
Maryland, was centered around
building an agenda to solve
challenges in communities across
the world.
Shelby Krebs of lone
represented Oregon at the
national assembly.
The conference theme was
"Building a Global Community:
Piece by Piece." The assembly
focused on developing leadership
skills, building community
partnerships and meeting other
youth.
Speakers included General
Colin Powell, and United States
Secretary of Agriculture Dan
Glickman.
Each state delegate was
assigned to a consulting group to
discuss issues facing young
people. These issues range from
education and diversity, to
technology and community
violence. The 4-Hers shared
ideas and will take them back to
their individual communities as a
part of a three-year plan to
address the problems of
communities in the new
millennium.
During the week, 4-H delegates
also had the opportunity to visit
their senators and congressmen
on Capitol Hill, take a cruise
down the Potomac River and
take an evening tour of the
national monuments.

School and the daughter of Clint
and Maureen Krebs of lone.
