plant exchange on Saturday,
April 15, at the St. Patrick's
Senior Center from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
All gardeners in the area may
bring plants and exchange for
others. Any type of plant is
welcome-both
indoor
and
outdoor, roots, pips, corms or
tubers. There is no cost.
Experienced gardeners,
resource materials and nursery
catalogues will be available.
Cookies and coffee will be

Social Club
has meeting
The Rhea Creek Social Club
met at Cal's in Heppner with the
Reverend Duane Jones as guest
speaker.
Reverend Jones spoke about

Association does to help people­
providing meals, a night's
lodging or helping get a car
going.
The club's next monthly
meeting will be held at Cal's on
April 12 at 10 a.m. John Church
will speak on the Agriculture
Museum starting at 10:15 a.m.

A new gift shop, called Treasures & Trinkets, recently opened in Heppner. The shop is located across the
street from the Northwest Motel and is operated by Darla Wishart (right) and Betty Newby. A grand
opening is planned April 14 through 16.
In addition to gifts and specialty baskets the shop will also offer silk and dried flower arrangements.
The two women are also considering adding fresh flowers later. "We would like everyone to stop by and
look around, and see what we have,” says Wishart. Their hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday.

The lone tennis teams traveled
to Moro on Friday, March 31, to
challenge the Sherman County
Huskies. The lone men waked
away with three wins and the
lone women were allowed only
one win.
Jennifer Thompson was
defeated by Gen Wolf, 5-8, Salli
McElligott was defeated by
Elisha Wooderson, 1-8, and
Caitlin Orem succumbed to
Marcy Richelderfer 4-8.
Caitlin Orem was well matched
with her opponent. Orem did an
excellent job of working the
court and keeping her opponent
on the run.

Barrow lost against Kasie Stroud
and Heidi Beers, 2-8, and Salli
McElligott
and
Allison
Halvorsen lost to Abbie Melzer
and Erin Weedman, 4-8.
Jennifer Thompson teamed up

the only win for the ladies' team,
defeating April Olsen and Katie
Ketchum in a tie breaker

Christman's match was called on
account of darkness.

The lone tennis teams hosted
Riverside High School on
Tuesday, March 28 for the first
match of the season for both
teams. lone men walked away
with five wins and two losses,
while the lone women had seven
wins and two losses.
Jennifer Thompson lost to her
opponent, Chnssa Chapman, in a
singles' match, 2-8. Thompson
played exceptionally well for her
first match.
Salli McElligott came from a
0-4 deficit before losing to
Andrea Orcutt, 4-8. Coach Cathy
McCabe was impressed with
McElligott's diligence. "Salli was
struggling the first part of the
match but she doesn't give up
easily and fought hard to take
four
matches
from
her
opponent," said McCabe.
Caitlin Orem easily defeated
Crystal Smith, 4-1; Sheena
Chnstman defeated Eunes Ward,
4-1; and Allison Halvorsen easily
defeated Becki McNamee, 4-0.
The doubles' team of Molly
Barrow and Erin Crowell won a
tough match against Ashley
Howell and Vanessa Bade,
defeating their opponents, 8-5.
Crowell and Barrow are not used
to playing side by side and had
some adjusting to do but seemed
to work it out.
The duo of Allison Halvorsen
and Shelby Krebs easily defeated
Andrea Orcutt and Crystal Smith,
8-0. Caitlin Orem and Sheena
Christman won their match
against Sonja Hurst and Valerie
Swindler, defeating them 4-0.

was handed a loss by Eric Roa.
Tworek lost his match 3-4.
Adam McCabe and Adam
Neiffer doubled up to defeat
Craig Gribble and Jeremy Hall in
a tight match, 8-6.
Jeremiah McElligott and Colin
McElligott easily defeated Rafael
Torres and Jacob Plisek, 8-2.
Jeremiah plays exceptionally
well at the net and Colin is quick
at getting to the ball in the
backcourt.
David Mansfeld and Cameron
Krebs overcame Jacob Plisek and
Tyson Carey, winning by an easy
margin of 4-0.
Steve Crum and Karl Morgan
fought a tough match against
Matt Weseman and Rafael Torres
before defeating their opponents,
4-3.
Coach Cathy McCabe said she
was pleased with the team's
performance. "It was a extremely
cold and windy day, the matches
were taking a long time and we
had to shorten quite a few
matches in order for everyone to
play. All of the team members
kept a good attitude and worked
hard," said McCabe.
Good showing at
McMinnville
Heppner's Lacey Matteson
captured her second barrel racing
title in a row at the McMinnville
High School Rodeo held April 1-
2. Matteson turned in a time of
14.958.
lone was well represented in the
barrel racing with Ann Shear
turning in a 15.326 for fifth
place, followed by Katie Bacon
with a 15.534 in sixth place.
Sybil Krebs was ninth with a
15.573. Krebs also placed
seventh in the breakaway roping
with a 5.27.
Condon's Marne Wilkins took
seventh in the pole bending with
a 21.842.
Ryan Matteson of Heppner took
the steer wrestling title with a
9.16 and was ninth in calf roping
with a 16.39
