Food drive
to begin
February 2 marked the
beginning o f a month-long drive
to raise food and funds for local
Morrow
County
entities,
according to William Broderick,
OSU Morrow County Extension
agent.
Those receiving assistance are
typically seniors on fixed
incomes, parents trying to
provide for their families on
minimum wage, unemployed
persons, or families hit with high
medical bills and no health
insurance, said Broderick.
According to a recent USDA
report, Oregon tops the nation in
prevalence of hunger and ties for
sixth in food insecurity, he said.
"OSU Extension through the
Morrow
County
office
encourages 4-H’ers, either m
their clubs or as individuals, and
interested people to contribute to
this worthwhile drive," said
Broderick. Any canned or non-
penshable goods may be brought
to the break room on the second
floor o f the Gilliam-Bisbee
building.
