The Morrow County Gun Club
(MCGC) held their first shoot of
the new millennium on a cold and
windy Sunday afternoon.
A hot lunch was provided by
Deona Hodges and Sandi Day to
keep the shooters warm.
A meeting was held to elect
new officers and hear the
treasurer’s report for 1999. Curt
Day was elected as the new presi
dent; Kelwayne Haguewood was
retained as secretary/treasurer;
and Harvey Childers and Dennis
Wall were chosen as new direc
tors, joining Mick Sharp.
The board elected to keep the
membership dues the same as last
year which wil 1 be $ 10 for a single
membership and $ 15 for a family
membership for NRA members,
and $20 for a single or $25 for a
family for non-NRA members.
MCGC members also decided
to return to a league-form of
shooting to begin on the first
weekend of February. A list of
rules will be given in next week’s
G-T.
Due to bad weather, only a 16
yard shoot was held, with first
going to Jeff Cutsforth, second to
Curt Day and third to Harvey
Childers.
Junior shooters Brian Hague-
wood, Cody Ford-Day and Bran
don Davis also posted scores as
did shooter Deona Hodges with a
new shotgun.
The MCGC will hold their next
shoot on Sunday, Jan. 16 at noon
at the club in Lexington.

Questions and answers about
organ donation and the Oregon
Donor Program will be the topic
at the January 19 monthly
meeting of the Boardman
Chamber of Commerce. The
presenter will be a local resident
and organ recipient.
"Many citizens and businesses
are reexamining their values and
life goals at the beginning of thè
year 2000," says a chamber
spokesperson. "The decision to
be an organ and tissue donor
could save or improve the quality
of life for as many as 75 people.
The Boardman Chamber of
Commerce is honored to host an
educational presentation of
questions and answers about
organ donation for its first
meeting in the year 2000."
Lisa Breckenndge of Greater
Eastern Oregon Development
Corporation will also address
chamber members on the
statewide
assessment
of
telecommunication s
infrastructure as required by
Senate Bill 622.
I
"For rural Oregon communities,

the month. The meeting will be
in the Dodge City Inn Restaurant

Boys’ fC? team loses to Pirates
By Rick Paullus
If it were a 24 minute game,
the Heppner Mustangs boys’ “C”
team would have beaten the visit
ing Riverside Pirates on Thursday,
Jan. 6, but unfortunately they
played 32 and the Pirates came
out on top, 52-37.
The Mustangs stayed with the
Pirates, trailing 23-18 a* halftime
and took a 35-33 lead after three
as Kelly Paullus scored 13 of his
game-high 17 ¡mints. The Pirates
got hot and took advantage of
some Mustang turnovers to win
the game with a big fourth quar-
ter.
Doug Orwick scored seven
points and Jerry Shank chipped in
with five. Adam Bergstrom
played a strong game underneath,
blocking shots and grabbing re
bounds.
