Over 50 children attended
vacation Bible school July 12-16
in Heppner.
The theme for the Bible school,
which was co-sponsored by the
Valby Lutheran Church, the
City of Heppner workers install water pipe at the Morrow County Fairgrounds.
The city o f Heppner installed
an eight-inch main water line at
the fairgrounds last week.
The project, a joint effort
between the city, the county and
the fair board, has the potential to
be looped in with Fairview in the
future, said Heppner City
Manager Gerry Breazeale.
Breazeale said that the fair
board is paying for materials and
the city providing installation.
Willow Creek All Stars third in league
United Methodist Church, Hope
Lutheran Church and All Saints'
Episcopal Church, was "The
Great Bibleland Dig." Children
explored the life of Jesus Christ
in songs and activities.
The children donated food and
money they collected during the
week
to
the
Heppner
Neighborhood Center.
Thirty-three volunteers assisted.
'Celebrate Heppner' planned July 30
"Celebrate Heppner" has been
planned for Friday, July 30, with
a sidewalk sale, dunk tank and
other events planned throughout
the day.
Friday's activities include: 1
p.m.-chalk drawings through age
12; 2 p.m.-coin scramble, 2-4
years and 5-7 years; 3 p.m.-
music; 3:30 p.m. tricycle races
on the shamrock, bring your own
wheels; 4 p.m. music featuring
Zac Grooms; 4-7 p.m. enchilada
feed at St. Patrick's Senior
Center, sponsored by the
Heppner Ministerial Association;
5 p.m. Hoola Hoop contest on the
shamrock for all ages; 5:30 p.m.-
music; 5:45 p.m.-raffle drawing;
6 p.m.-announcement of Irish
sister city winner; 7 p.m. Bingo
at the senior center.
That evening activities at the
fairgrounds include: 6 p.m.-
"brand your board" (bring your
iron, electric or otherwise, and
$100, proceeds go toward the
Wilkinson building completion
fund); 7:30 p.m.-ribbon cutting
and dedication of the Wilkinson
building; 8 p.m.-Morrow County
Fair and Rodeo kick off dance,
featuring Zac Grooms, male
youth winner of the 1999 Golden
Globe Music Award. This event
is sponsored by the Fair
Committee and is free to the
community in appreciation of
their contributions to the fair and
rodeo.
Gun Club
to hold shoot
The Morrow County Gun Club
will hold their monthly shoot this
Sunday, July 25, at noon.
The lone United Church of Christ
is selling bricks to help fund
our new church.

The W illow Creek White Sox
ended their All-Star season with
a tough loss to Hood River on
Thursday, July 8, in White
Salmon, Wa.
The White Sox had already
beat Hood River in their first
game, 7-6, and then won against
