William Louis Smith
William Louis Smith, 85, died
Monday, April 19,1999. Funeral
service was held Friday, Apnl 23,
1999 in the Beacon Hill Ward of
the Church o f Jesus Christ o f Lat­
ter-day Saints. Interment was at
Heppner Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was bom April 11,
1914, in Egin, Idaho, and was
raised in Spokane, Washington.
He owned Lake City Furs and
then Smitty’s Floor Covenng, both
in Seattle, before his retirement in
about* 1969, when he moved to
Beaverton. He was a member of
the Beacon Hill W ard o f the
church. In 1936, he married Jessie
Whorrall; they later divorced.
Survivors include his daughters,

Donald E. Haugen, formerly of
Heppner, passed away on Sunday,
April 25, 1999 at the age o f 69
after a long illness. A private fu­
neral service will be held.
M r. H augen was born in
Rugley, North Dakota on Octo­
ber 22, 1929, to John and Opal
Haugen.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy
in 1947 and retired as a Chief
Petty Officer in 1970.
M r. Haugen and his w ife,
Shirley, moved to Heppner in 1989,
where he worked for the Morrow
County Fair and Rodeo and was
a handyman for the community.
He is survived by his wife,
