The lone Middle School
Volleyball team took on the
Condon Demons at lone Oct. 16
and defeated the Demons in two
short games, 15-2, 15-2.
"This was the best offensive
and defensive game, we had all
year," commented player Tracy
Griffith.
The Cards' offensive game was
terrific. Diana McElligott and
Griffith dominated the net, while
Jaysi Bennetto and Natalie
McElligott supported them in
the back row. Setters Caitlin
Orem and Meghan McCabe
dished six assists each. N.
McElligott and D. McElligott
lead the Cards at the service line
with 11 and nine points
respectively.
Next up for the IMS Cardinals
was a Friday game against the
Heppner Ponies at Heppner, Oct.
22.

Veteran’s Memorial Park, Highway 74 (Linden Way)
between Hinton and Willow creeks, Heppner.
We will gather at the Memorial on Veteran’s Day,
Wednesday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m.

point conversion. Radie also
threw two completed passes to
fullback Cameron Krebs.
Koby Rea will return for they
next game which will be played
against Heppner at Heppner.
Mustangs defeats Tiger-Scots for perfect season

The
Mustang
varsity
volleyball team completed their
league play in Athena, on
Tuesday, October 27, defeating
the Tiger-Scots to finish the
regular season with a perfect
12-0
Columbia
Basin
Conference record. Although
the Weston-McEwen
team
made a run on the Mustangs,
Heppner remained in control of
the game to win in two, 15-13,
15-10.
Game
one
was
close
throughout, with the score tied
at three, seven, eight, 12 and 13,
before the Mustangs finally put
it away with two aces by
Amber Peck. Heppner was able
to consistently mount offensive
attacks, but the Tiger-Scots
played tough defense to dig up
plenty of hits.
In game two the Mustangs
pulled out to a 6-1 point lead
only to allow the Tiger-Scots to
come scrambling back to tie it
up at point seven, then again at
eight. With the score knotted at
eight. Peck went back to serve
the Mustangs to a five-point
lead, 13-8, before giving it up to
the net. The Tiger-Scots' next
server added two more points to
their total before the Mustangs
went ahead and put the final
two points in the book to take
the match.
Injuries plague lone
in loss to Heppner

Due to the observance of the
Veteran's Day holiday, the
Morrow County Court will not
meet on its regularly scheduled
court date of Wednesday,
November 11, but will meet on
Thursday,
November
12,
instead, at 9 a.m. in Irrigon.
Andrew Reitmann, who cracked
his ribs.
It all started with a early
touchdown by the Blue Devils.
The Cardinals were easily
stopped offensively by the
strong line and pass defense. The
Blue Devils just kept on
pounding the Cardinals. The
Blue Devils managed to get 42

broke through the line and ran

Billy Gates, second in sacks,
behind Cayle Krebs, made the
interception and ran 15 yards
before he was brought down.
Radie stopped a breakaway
touchdown by running 40 yards
to catch the galloping Pony.
In the last few seconds lone
was 45'd with a final score of
51-6.
This was the final game for the
lone Cardinals. The Cards
finished the season with a three
and three record. "It was a good
season," said Coach Dean

Middle School defeats Heppner

The lone Middle School girls
had a successful volleyball
match against the Heppner
Ponies on Friday, Oct. 23, at
Heppner.
The first game the Cardinals
fell hard, losing 11-15. The
second game the Cardinals
pulled it together and beat back
the Ponies, 15-12. In the third
game both teams gave it their
all, but it ended as lone pulled
ahead and won, 15-10.
Point leaders were Natalie
McElligott with 10 points,
Caitlin Orem with seven points,
and Diana McElligott with six.
"It was one of the tougher
games of the season, but we
came out with a victory," said
Jaysi Bennetto.
The junior varsity Mustangs
won their final match o f the
season easily, defeating the
Tiger-Scots 15-4, 15-5. This
team has played tough all year,
finishing 14-1, losing only their
first match at LaGrande, and
taking most of their matches in
two games. They also won
their own junior varsity
tournament in September.
The JV team was made up of
12 juniors and one sophomore,
and will provide the Mustangs
with a strong core for next
year's varsity squad.
The Heppner Cs lost their
match with Weston-McEwen,
6-15, 15-4, 6-15, to end the year
10-5. The C 12 were evenly
split with six sophomores and
six freshmen that show
potential for future Mustang
teams.
