Ethel Gail Cradick
Graveside service for Ethel
Gail Cradick, 87, will be held on
Sunday, August 30,1998, at 1 p.m.
at the I OOF Cemetery, Hardman.
Miss Cradick died on Friday,
August 14,1998 in Milwaukie.
Miss Cradick was bom Octo­
ber 9, 1910, to John W. “Link” and
Minnie B. Cradick.
She attended Heppner High
School prior to moving to Portland
in the late 1920s. She was em­
ployed as a secretary by the City
of Portland. In the early 1950s,
she moved to Los Angeles. She
worked for a steamship company
for several years and was then
employed as a comptroller opera­
tor by Thrifty Drug Co. Following
her retirement from Thrifty Drug,
she returned to the Portland area.»
She was a member of the Epis­
copal Church.
Miss Cradick is survived by her
sister, Kathleen Anderson, Hepp­
ner; three nephews, Eric Ander­
son of lone, Steve Anderson of
Arlington and Charles Anderson
of Heppner; two nieces, Joene
(Brown) McGraw of Beaverton
and Joan (C arson) Staley o f
Milwaukie.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; her brother, Gilbert
Earl Cradick; two sisters, Lena
Brown and Myrtle Carson; and a
nephew, Lucian J. Carson.
June Blakney
June Blakney, 72, a longtime
Prosser, Washington resident, died
Wednesday, August 5, 1998, at
Sacred Heart Medical Center in
Spokane, Washington as a result
of complications during heart sur­
gery.
Funeral services were Satur­
day, August 8, 1998, at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Prosser.
A rosary was held Friday, August
7.
Mrs. Blakney was bom June
25, 1926, to Gifford and Dons
Lehman in Poulsbo, Washington.
She graduated from Seattle
university with a BSN in Nursing
in 1947. She worked as a RN for
many years, the last 20 at Prosser
Memonal Hospital.
She married Phil Blakney on
June 11, 1949, in Seattle, Wash­
ington. They lived in Heppner for
10 years before moving to Prosser
in 1961.
Mrs. Blakney served as a vol­
unteer for Prosser Hospital Aux­
iliary, Republican Women, and
was an active member of Sacred
Heart Catholic Church. She en­
joyed spending time with her nine
children and 20 grandchildren, and
traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her husband,
Phil; sons and daughters-in-law,
Phil Jr. and Kay, Wenatchee,
Washington, Steve and Cindy,
Vancouver, Washington. John and
Carla, Spokane, and Myles and
Kelli, Selah, Washington; daugh­
ters and sons-in-law, Susan and
Mike Flory and Sally and Arvid
Smith, all of Prosser, Joyce and
Mike Carpine, Spokane, and Julie
and Owen Schoenberger,
Clearwater, British Columbia.
Mrs. Blakney was preceded in
death by her son, Mark, in 1972,
and her granddaughter, Leslie.
The family suggest memorials
may be made to Birthright.
Meyer Funeral Home, Prosser,
was in charge of arrangements.

Jon V. Prock, 40, of Heppner.
died Friday, August 21,1998 at St.
Mary’s Medical Center in Walla
Walla, Washington.
Graveside service was held
Tuesday, August 25, 1998 at the
Heppner Masonic Cemetery.
Jon Prock was bom Decem­
ber 9, 1957, at Heppner, to Jimmy
and Patricia Albert Prock. He
grew up in Heppner and attended
local schools, graduating from
Heppner High School in 1976. He
worked at Kinzua Corporation for
a number of years and has worked
for Miller Wheat Inc. the past four
years.
He enjoyed going to the moun­
tains, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his parents,
Jim and Pat Prock of Heppner;
brother, Mike of Heppner; sisters,
Tricia Gunderson of Heppner and
Tami Calbert of Pendleton.
