funding packages that are

Andrew W. Anderson has
graduated from the' Army
Reserve Officer Training Corps
(ROTC) Camp Challenge at Fort
Knox, Ky.
Camp Challenge is designed to
give college juniors and
sophomores who have not taken
ROTC courses the chance to
enter the program.
Cadets
received training in fundamental
military skills, basic rifle
marksmanship,
drill
and
ceremonies, small arms tactics,
and communications.
The cadet is a student at
Oregon
State
University,
Corvallis.
Anderson is the son of Glenn
and Phyllis Anderson of
Lexington. He is a 1996
graduate of lone High School.

District spokesperson.

-:- Let’s not forget the “Har­
vest Festival” this Saturday, Aug.
29, in Lexington. The festivities
will start at 1 p.m. with a horse­
shoe pitching contest. The entry
fee for each team will be $5, to
be divided by the winners. A dunk
tank is planned and everyone is
invited to see who will be dunked.
A spaghetti supper at $5 per plate
can be enjoyed while listening and
dancing at the street dance. Mu­
sic will be by the Crosswinds, start­
ing at 4 p.m. Come on out and
support Lexington in the first Har­
vest Festival. Perhaps this can
become a yearly event.

her ribbons won at the Morrow
County Fair when she and her
Australian shepherd dog, Sheila,
won the dog obedience and show­
manship award. This is her first
year of competition at the fair.
The 4-H dog club has about 20
members, with seven taking part
in the fair.
-:- Bill and Bonnie Klinger of
Portland were callers at the home
of his mother and husband, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Padberg.
Sheriff's Report
The Morrow County Sheriffs
Office (MCSO) reports handling
the following business during the
past weeks:
MCSO dispatched to the
Boardman ambulance a report of
a man who had fallen and hit his
head. He refused transport.
MCSO received a report of a
possible Minor in Possession party
at a Heppner residence. Officers
were unable to locate anything.
MCSO dispatched to the
Boardman Police Dept, a report
o f a fem ale needing help in
Boardman. Her ex-husband was
violating a restraining order.
Boardman and Arlington am­
bulances, Oregon State Police re­
sponded to a report of a one ve­
hicle accident on 1-84. It turned
out to be a blown tire and no inju­
ries occurred.
Aug. 9: Oregon State Police
and Boardman Police Dept, re­
ceived information about a men­
tally handicapped male walking to
Umatilla from Boardman carry­
ing a Bible. The caller was con­
cerned about his safety.
MCSO dispatched to the Hepp­
ner Police Dept, a report of a male
trying to enter his girlfriend’s
apartment in Heppner. They had
had a fight earlier.
MCSO received a report of a
storage unit burglarized at the
Imgon Mini-Storage.
MCSO received a report of al­
cohol that had been stolen at
Bake’s in Imgon.
MCSO dispatched to the
Boardman Fire Dept, a report of
a fire on the railroad one mile west
of Highway 730. Spot fires were
reported from Patterson Ferry to
Port of Morrow.
MCSO received a report of
two males in a white car with
baseball bats chasing a male ju-.
venile in Imgon.
MCSO dispatched to the
Boardman Fire Dept, a report of
a grass fire near the tracks at Port
of Morrow Industrial Park.
Aug. 10: MCSO dispatched to
the Boardman Police Dept, a re-
port of criminal trespass in the
pool at Desert Springs Estates.
Six juveniles were cited for Crimi­
nal Trespass II (two 13 year olds
and three 14 year olds and one 15
year old).
MCSO dispatched to the
Boardman Police Dept, a report
o f 10 juveniles causing a distur­
bance at Morrow Estates.
MCSO received a report of
two large dogs at Outback Apts.
No officers with the Boardman
Police Dept, or MCSO were
available and the Oregon State
Police do not handle dog calls.
MCSO dispatched to the
Condon ambulance a request for
a transport to Pioneer Memorial
Hospital.
MCSO received a report from
Irrigon of a mailbox tom down,
dragged down the street and the
mail in the box gone through.
MCSO dispatched to the Hepp­
ner Police Dept, a report of people
at a H eppner residence who
shouldn’t be there.
MCSO dispatched to the
Boardman Police Dept, a report
of two stray dogs at a home in
Boardman.
MCSO received a report of a
vehicle that had been damaged
and someone tried to hotwire it.
MCSO received a report of a
semi-truck broken into and ran­
sacked at Bake’s in Irrigon.
MCSO received a report of a
loose horse on Wilson and Bomb­
ing Range roads.
MCSO received a request for
a welfare check in Irrigon. An
officer made contact and all was
okay.
MCSO received a report of a
wrong-way driver on 1-84 east-
bound in the westbound lane.
MCSO dispatched to the Hepp­
ner Police Dept, a report of an
alarm at Heppner High School. It
was people at football camp.
MCSO received a report of
horses underfed and not watered.

ner Police Dept, at 11 p.m. a re­
port of a large group gathering at
Heppner City Park and several
vehicles. One juvenile was ar­
rested to Disorderly Conduct.
Aug. 11: MCSO received a re­
port of girls missing from their
bedroom and believed to have left
through the window and gone to
a MIP party. A gathering of
people was located at County' Line
Road near the game refuge and
parents were contacted to get
their children.
MCSO deputy and Oregon
State Police received a report of
a log truck that passed on a cor­
ner and a wheat truck had to pull
off the roadway.
MCSO received a report of a
yellow VW van weaving and
riding on trucks’ bumpers on 1-84
westbound.
