Madras man winner of Lions rifle raffle
Willow Creek Baptist Church
will have their summer vacation
Bible school Monday through
Friday, July 20-24. All children
ages three through sixth-grade
are invited to the city park on
Mam Street in Heppner from 9
a m. to noon for games, Bible
stories, crafts, snacks and "a
bunch of fun," says Willow
Creek Baptist Pastor Brent
Waldrep.
Willow Creek Baptist invites
all youth in sixth through 12th
grade for lunch and games on the
park on Thursday, July 23, from
12:30-2 p.m.
The communities along Willow
Creek are invited to attend a
concert in the park on Friday,
July 24, from 6:30-8 p.m. "The
Matt Jacobsen Band" from
Portland will play a variety of
tunes including Irish music and
jazz. Those planning to attend are
asked to bring their own lawn
chairs or blankets to the concert.
Refreshments will be provided.
Spiritual renewal services will
be held each evening, July 19-23,
at 7 p.m. "These services are
designed to encourage and teach
how the reality of God is relevant
to everyday life," said Pastor
Waldrep.

Sunday
through Wednesday and on
Thursday will be held at the
Seventh-day Adventist building,
560 N. Minor. "Quality" child
care will be provided. The
Wednesday evening lakeside
service will be at the Willow
Creek Lake boat ramp/viewpoint
upper section at 7 p.m.
Men are invited to join in a
men's lunch Bible study and
discussion "aimed at helping men
lead lives of integrity and
character” on Friday, July 24,
upstairs at Kate's at noon.

Arts and Crafts Club will seek
ideas
from
its
members
concerning the fair booth when
they next meet on Thursday, July
23.
The club will get together at 1
p.m. at Kate's for lunch and a
short meeting and plans for the
fair booth will follow.

Niki Sullivan of lone has been
selected as an American Legion
Girls State delegate.
Girls Slate, a youth seminar on
Americanism and citizenship,
will be held next year June 14-
21. Delegates to Girls' State
organize their own cities and
counties, hold elections and
conduct other business during the
w eek-long seminar.
Niki is the 17-year-old
daughter of Brian and Lone
Sullivan, of lone. She has been
class president, concession
chairman,
participated
in
volleyball, basketball and tennis,
was a member of the Future
Business I.eaders of America,
National Honor Society, Letter
Club, Drama Club and the
Positive Action Committee at
lone High School. She is also a
member of the lone Youth Group
and has participated in their
annual trip to Portland to help the
homeless.
Niki is the second in her family
to attend Girls State. Her sister
Jenny was selected last year.

Holly Rebekah Lodge met re
cently for the last meeting until
September. They held a potluck
dinner in the park and a shower
for the dining room. Many useful
things were received, as well as
money. New curtains have been
purchased and a new hot water
heater is to be installed soon.
