spend all their money at the
country store. Now my grand-
kids are doing the same thing,"
said Betty Rietmann.
"Every year I clean out my
junk so I can buy more. It's
great," commented Lea Mathieu.
A lot of hard work is also put
into the auction every year. "It's
one of those things that builds its
own momentum, and it's really
fun to be involved in," said Alice

Harper.
"It's a great cooperative effort
by the church members that
begins the Saturday before, and
ends with the auction. It's really
a great event," added Rich-
Harper.
The church is hopeful that this
year's auction will be successful
and that plans for repairing or
replacing the church can be
made.

Church members set up country
store
Saturday, May 31, went without
a hitch.
About 40 church
members and members o f the
community helped out.
Trucks hauled boxes of auction
merchandise from the auction
warehouse to the lone Grange
Hall, where people sorted
through the boxes and started
setting things up.
"I can’t believe all the stuff. It
seems like there's more every
year. I can't believe people have
so many treasures," commented
Cathy Halvorsen.
Everyone took a break for a
barbecue lunch cooked by Chuck
Nelson. Afterwards, it was back
to work.
"Today was very successful.
We had a good work crew and
the rain stopped for us," said
Debbie Morgan.
The auction has become
tradition for most people.
"It's been something our
families have been enjoying for
years. I remember when my kids
were little, they would come and
