The Friends of Heppner feel it is IMPORTANT
for all citizens to have good information regarding
the proposed Youth Accountability Camp (YAC)
in Heppner.
We have prepared some frequently asked questions about the camp.
The responses are provided by the city and county officials in
their presentation and application to the state:
1) Describe the capacity and willingness o f the local jurisdictions to accommodate ANY future
expansion o f the facility?
Answer: “The City of Heppner would not only be willing, but would also be excited to help
accommodate future expansion... Moreover, the proposed site is large enough to accom
modate expansion.”
2) Is there a possibility that the youth from the YAC will mingle with our community? And will they
be taking summer job s from our local children?
Answer: “Yes, these youths will leave the YAC to work... They will be working on projects
to benefit the community. These projects may be with the U.S. Forest Service doing trail
building, with the OD0T doing roadside cleanup, or with the ODFW improving habitat on
rivers.”
3) Who will pay fo r the property, electrical service to, water, sewer and roads fo r the new camp?
Today, we have no firm answer from our local officials. We can tell you this - the STATE
wants US to pay!
ATTEND AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING:
May 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Parish Hall
R em em b er - every n onparticipant has been consid ered a yes f o r YAC!
