Plain Speaking on:
THE RACE forDiSt. 59
I know I’m breaking the first rule of politics by telling voters exactly
where I stand, but as a wife, mom, school teacher and business woman,
I’ve found it’s best to be plain spoken.
The reason I filed for the Oregon Legislature can be summed up in
two words: "Lynn Lundquist." I know Lynn, and he might be a nice
guy, but from my point of view, he's been a poor representative for
District 59. Eastern Oregon needs a different perspective in Salem.
For a number of months before I filed, I was encouraged to run by
friends in the agriculture and natural resource industries who followed
Lynn's performance as our representative. He went along with virtually
any proposed new tax or fee increase... including the Governor's huge
gas tax, higher vehicle registration charges, and even a monthly phone
fee! I still wasn't sure about running until I received a newsletter from
his office in which he took credit for the return of folks' tax "kicker"...
even though he sponsored a bill which would have essentially
killed the kicker altogether! That did it.
So, I've got myself in a race against a politician who is now calling
himself a "conservative"... the same man news editors say is hard to
distinguish from our liberal Democrat Governor,
John Kitzhaber!
Even though Lynn Lundquist is the
reason I filed ... he's not the reason I'm
running. In the coming weeks, I'll make
the case for my candidacy by telling you
exactly where I stand and about rny
commitment to better government. I'm
sure you'll like what you hear.
In the meantime, if you've got
questions, please feel free to call me at
home, (541)934-2275.
