As I write this on Valentine’s
Day, I think the timing is perfect.
The St. Patrick’s Day Auction
Committee is expressing our ap
preciation to surrounding com
munities for their support of our
celebration and auction, but we
feel especially thankful for our
friends in Heppner, Lexington
and lone.
Without the many area indi
viduals and business owners who
donate to our auction, the March
event would not happen. Besides
contributing to the South Morrow
Scholarship Fund and at least one
local project (last year, the swim
ming pool), the auction ensures
financing for the next year's
weekend entertainment and ad
vertising and marketing.
We are excited about the
changes in this year’s auction. We
will offer the entertainment of
“Absolutely Nobody” on stage
from 11:30 a.m .-l p.m. To
shorten the live auction and to try
to feature something for every
one, we will sell items in a “Coun
try Store,” a silent auction, draw
ings and the live auction.
So, as our small committee
begins the work of soliciting for
the auction, we extend our heart
felt thanks to all of you who have
supported us in the past by donat
ing and by attending the Sunday
auction. We hope you will find
in your hearts the desire (and
ways and means) to again contrib
ute. We w on’t be driving the
paddy wagon through the neigh
borhoods this year to remind you
to donate, since it is not currently
running, so anyone can call me at
676-5886 to request that we come
by. D onations can also be
dropped off at the bookstore by
City Hall. And we hope to see
everyone at the auction on Sun
day, March 15.
