Heppner’s varsity girls beat the
Echo Cougars like a drum,
winning 67-17,
in their
preseason match-up on Tuesday,
December 16. The Mustangs
stampeded to an early lead and,
although coach John Boyer
pulled off the press, the Heppner
girls sustained their intensity and
romped unrestrained throughout
the contest.
The Mustangs were ahead 13-0
before the Cougars clawed their
way onto the scoreboard.
Heppner led 16-3 at the first
break and 34-6 at the half. Their
momentum just seemed to
increase in the second half, until
it looked as if the Mustangs were
putting on a clinic with a 38-
point lead, 48-10, after three
quarters.
