upon the issue of annexation of
territory to the lone Rural Fire
Protection District. The territory

On Christmas Day, Thursday,
December 25, an open house
will be held at the St. Patrick's
Senior Center from 12-5 p.m.
The afternoon will include
cards, games and food. Everyone
is welcome to attend.
The open house is sponsored
by CAPECO.

Bulletin Board
There were 75 present for the senior dinner Dec. 10 and 10 meals
were home delivered. Members of the Methodist Church served.
The Senior Center Board met following the meal. Blood pressures
were taken before dinner. The menu for dinner Dec.24 will be
turkey noodle soup, turkey sandwich, vegetable tray, cranberry
salad, deviled eggs and pumpkin pudding. Members of the
Lutheran Church will serve.
There were 41 present for the breakfast Dec. 12 and five
breakfasts were home delivered. The menu for breakfast Dec. 19
will be breakfast casserole (eggs, sausage and cheese) fruit, hot and
cold cereal, orange juice , milk and coffee. There will be no
breakfast the day after Christmas.
One table of cards was in play Friday afternoon. There was no
Sunday movie.
Ralph Walker brought a beautiful pine tree to the center Tuesday
afternoon, put it up and helped put the lights on. Ralph Struthers
and other tenants helped decorate it.
A full bus load of seniors went to Hermiston Saturday for lunch
and shopping and they also attended the "Singing Christmas Tree".
Ed Baker drove the bus. All reported having a wonderful time.
The Senior Board met Friday after the breakfast. They decided
to have bingo every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. in the dining room
to raise funds for maintaining the center.
Those seniors who are not going elsewhere Christmas day are
invited to the Senior Center for lunch, refreshments, cards, games
and companionship from noon to 5 p.m.
The Red Cross will hold a blood drawing at the Center Monday,

Two students from Morrow
County have been accepted into
the Hugh O'Brian Youth
Leadership (HOBY), formerly
the Hugh O'Brian Youth
Foundation. HOBY was designed
to motivate and develop the
worlds future leaders, prepare
them for positions in their
schools and help them to expand
the talent that will serve them
and the community in the future,
said a HOBY spokesperson. The
HOBY program is open only to
sophomores.
Kim Pointer from Heppner
High School and Erin Crowell
from lone High School were
accepted into HOBY for their
leadership skills. They will be
attending HOBY seminars which
are a "highly interactive" process
rather than a note taking lecture.
The students will be involved in
informal discussions with today's
leaders in business, education,
government, the arts and sciences
and the professions.
Kim is the daughter of Mark
and Cathie Pointer.
She was
the JV volleyball team captain,
and is a member of the basketball
team, OSSOM, student council,
Wildhorse club. Outdoor Club,
softball team and was on the
honor roll this past term.
Erin is the daughter of Gene
and Kristy Crowell and is active
in FBLA. Drama, OSSOM,
volleyball and tennis.
These students have been
chosen to represent their class
and will be eligible for
scholarships. They will also have
an opportunity to be selected to
attend HOB V s 1998 World
Leadership Congress, to be held
in Washington D.C.
