Record number turns out for HHS girls basketball

A record number of girls has
turned out to play basketball at
Heppner High School for the
1997-98 season.
With 33
athletes, the Mustang gals will,
for the first time, carry three
basketball teams.

Boyer is pleased with the strong
turnout. "Right now we are just
working on getting our timing
down and getting used to each
other." said Boyer. "This is a
talented bunch of girls. We
should have a great season." The

varsity team boasts ten returning
varsity players, plus two senior
transfer students who also have
varsity experience.
Players tapped for varsity
include: seniors Lexi Matteson,
Annie Hisler, Mindy Binschus,
Petra Elguezabal and Maci
Childers; juniors Jessica Maben,
Brooke Boyer, Jaci Hughes, Jill
Barber, Janelle Healy and
Kathleen
Greenup;
and
sophomore Casey Ingraham.
The junior varsity team is
coached by Dana Reid and
includes junior Julie Watkins;
and sophomores Kim Pointer,
Macy Rhea; Stephanie Clough,
Trisha Adams, Allison Sykes,
Ashley Ropp, Amy Papineau and
Abby Kahl.
The C team includes: junior
