The Rev. G. Randy Robertson
and
his
wife
Lynette,
missionaries to the Slovak
Republic, will pay a visit to the
Christian Life Center in Heppner
Sunday, June 1.
The Robertsons will share
"their burden for the people of
central Europe, and specifically,
those in the Slovak Republic,"
said a news release. "It is there
the Robertsons will help train
pastors, serving as instructors in
the theological seminary in
Banska Bystrica and also
traveling throughout the country
encouraging and assisting pastors
unable to attend Bible college."
For over 40 years, communism
ruled that section of the world
and no Bible colleges or
seminaries were permitted to
exist, said the Robertsons,
creating a void of trained pastors.
Since the Iron Curtain fell in
1989, however, the doors have
been open to spread the gospel
freely.
"This is an exciting time in the
Slovak
Republic,"
Rev.
Robertson said. "There is a great
need to train pastors for the many
new churches that are being
started. God has called us to be
part of this training process."
Rev. Robertson pastored in the
Oregon
District
of
the
Assemblies of God from 1976 to
1994, most recently pastoring in
Canby, from 1983-94. Earlier
this year, he received his master
of
divinity
degree
from
Multnomah Biblical Seminary in
Portland.
Christian Life Center is located
at 535 W. Morgan Street. For
more information, contact Pastor
Tim Van Cleave at 676-5448.
