Arts and Crafts
Club to
sponsor trip
Morrow County Creative Arts
and Crafts will sponsor an
overnight bus trip to Mt. St.
Helens on June 24-25.
The group will visit Fort
Vancouver and have a no-host
lunch
at
the
Charthouse
Restaurant in Vancouver before
visiting the Johnston Ridge
Observatory, the Coldwater
Ridge Visitors' Center and the
Forest Learning Center.
The no-host dinner will be at
Hoffstadt Bluffs before returning
for the night to Timberland Inn
and Suites at Castle Rock. After
having breakfast on their own at
the Rose Tree Restaurant, the
group will depart Castle Rock,
stopping at Paradise Inn, Elbe
and Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad.
A no-host lunch will be at
Paradise
Lodge
before
continuing on to view the murals
at Toppenish and enjoying dinner
at the Homestead Restaurant in
Goldendale,
The bus will be non-smoking,
with a restroom on board. Prices
vary starting from S140 a person
single occupancy to $111 a
person for four people and two
beds in a room.

The annual St. Jude “Wheels
for Life" Bike-a-thon is scheduled
for Sunday, April 27, with regis
tration to begin at noon, near the
lone Fire Hall.
“ Participants are urged to
gather pledges now to raise funds
for this worthwhile cause," said
ride coordinator Anne Morter.
Riders turning in at least $35 in
pledges receive a St. Jude t-shirt.
Those turning in $75 or more re
ceive a sports bag and t-shirt.
Pledge sheets are available at the
lone Post Office and the lone
branch of the Bank of Eastern
Oregon, or by contacting Morter
at 422-7429 or Janet Thompson,
422-7549.
Two courses are available-a
one mile circuit route within the
lone city limits for younger par
ticipants, and “anyone feeling up
to the prospect of a longer ride”
is invited to tour the 22 mile route
between Ruggs and lone. Trans
portation from lone to Ruggs will
be available for bikes and riders,
and will leave lone at approxi
mately 12:30 p.m. Riders may
also register at Ruggs.
The ride will start at 1 p.m.
from both locations. Other non-
motonzed forms of transportation
are also welcomed, such as baby
strollers and roller blades. Drinks,
cookies and ice cream cones will
be provided for all participants at
the conclusion of the ride.
“The St. Jude Bike-a-thon
raises funds for the St. Jude
Children’s Hospital, which is the
largest childhood cancer research
center in America in terms of the
number of patients treated and
treatment success,” said Morter.

Arts Council to
present program
Morrow County Arts Council
will present the Sentimentalists
on Thursday, April 17. at 2 p.m.
at the Woolery House Bed &
Breakfast in lone.
Everyone is invited to come and
enjoy those songs of yesteryear
Refreshments will be served.
The performance is free to the
public.
The Arts Council will also have
a general public meeting on
Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at
Yaw's Restaurant and Lounge.
Entertainment will be by the
Pendleton group, "The Picks 'N'
Bow", The Sentimentalists, and
Flute Q.

St. Patrick's Senior Center
Bulletin Board_______
There were 73 present for the senior dinner April 9 and eight
meals were home delivered. Members of the Methodist Church
served. The Senior Center Board met at 1 p.m.. Blood pressures
were taken before the meal.
The menu for April 23 will be barbecued meat balls, baked
potatoes, green beans, rolls and pears. Members of the Lutheran
Church will serve.
Four people played pinochle Friday afternoon. Ten watched the
movie "Camilla" Sunday evening. Four of them played pinochle
until time for the movie.
The bus is scheduled for a trip to Hermiston Thursday, April 24,
departing Heppner at 10:30 a.m. There is a sign up sheet in the
office.
Remember the appreciation dinner for church volunteers who
have served so well and faithfully at the senior meals. The dinner
will April 24 at 6 p.m. in the center dining room.There will be
food, fun and entertainment.
The annual plant exchange will be held in the dining room April
26 from 9 a m. to 4 p.m..
Other dates to remember are as follows: Tues. and Thurs,
exercise, 10 a.m.; Wed., blood pressures taken, 11 a m., senior
meal, noon; Friday, cards, 2 p.m.; Sun. movie, 7 p.m.
