Volkswalkers drawn to St. Pat's event Boardman
Wheat Growers offer cake samples
Volkswalkers came from as far
I away as Philomath and Yakima
to take part in the 1997 St.
1 Patrick's Celebration Volkswalk.
Forty-one people walked the 10
I kilometer route despite cool
| temperatures and an early
morning snowfall which made
for difficult driving to Heppner
I for the event.
; >
Over 30 volunteers helped with
route marking, registration, rest
stops, check points and publicity
for the Volkswalk. Their efforts
enabled the event to run
smoothly, said event chairman
John Edmundson. "Many of the
walkers commented on how
much they enjoyed the walk and
their tour of the Heppner
community," said Edmundson.
