Pilot Rock was only one loss behind the Mustangs and this victory on the road did a great deal for the Mustangs' post season hopes Heppner started out with a bang, jumping out to a 22-4 lead after one quarter David Michael, getting his first start of the year held the Rockets' Shawn McLaughlin scoreless in the first quarter and kept him to only four points in the first half After cruising to a 50-34 lead after three quarters, the Mustangs struggled in the last stanza The Rockets closed to within five points at 58-53 before the Mustangs put the game away, despite some terrible free-throw shooting. Heppner was 19-43 from the chanty stnpe in the game and only 12-28 in the last quarter Jim Schlaich had his usual productive game with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Schlaich is leading the CBC in rebounds and is in the top 10 for sconng Justin Matteson and Eric Schonbachler both scored in double figures, with 15 and 12 points respectively.
