North Lex Sheep

The first meeting for the
North Lex Sheep 4-H Club was
held December 15 at Kate's Piz­
za. Everyone introduced them­
selves. Members elected the
following officers: Sam Van
Liew, presid ent; Chantea
M cCauley, vice president;
Alicia Geer, secretary; and
Jessica Wainwright, treasurer.
The next meeting will be in
January after Colt basketball.
The club will study different
breeds of sheep.

COUNCIL MEETING
AT 7:00 p.m. on January 7,
1997, the City Council of the Ci­
ty of Heppner will hold a
special Council meeting to con­
sider a resolution calling a
special election on the question
of approving a levy of $130,000
each year for the next five fiscal
years outside the tax base for
operations beginning in 1997/
98. If the resolution is approv­
ed, the election would be held
March 11,1997. The meeting is
open to the general public who
is invited to attend and give im-
put to the Council deliberation.

Notice is hereby given that
on January 13, 1997, at 9:00
a.m., the board of equalization
of the County of Morrow, Ore­
gon, will meet at the County
Courthouse in Heppner, Ore­
gon, to:
* Hear petitions for reduction
of the real market or assessed
value of as of July 1.
* Hear petitions to excuse
penalties for late filing of real
of personal property returns.
* Act on recommendations
from the assessor made under
ORS 308.242 when no petition
has been filed.
Petitions for reduction of the
real market or assessed value of
property must be filed with the
clerk of the board not later than
December 31, 1996.
A schedule of hearings for
those who request to be present
will be posted 48 hours prior to
the meetings at the Morrow
County Courthouse in Hepp­
ner, Oregon.
Executive sessions may be
held during the session as re­
quired by ORS 308.290(7), ORS
308.411, and ORS 308.413.
All other hearings will be
scheduled at time allows. If you
have requested to be present at
the hearing you will be notified
of the time and place to appear.
Contact the board of equaliza­
tion for further information.
It shall be the duty of the per­
sons interested to appear at the
time and place appointed.

dent Ron Daniels has announc­
