Heppner. The annual event, sponsored by the local Soroptimist club, also saw a visit by Santa
Claus.

The deadline for bringing
items for the "Giving Tree" at
Yaw’s Restaurant in Heppner
is Thursday, Dec. 19.
Those wishing to participate
may pick out a paper
Christmas ball which has been
placed on the Christmas tree at
Yaw’s. Each ball notes a
child's age, sex and items on
his or her
wish list.
Participants then purchase the
gifts, wrap them and return
them to Yaw's, with the
identifying tag on the gift.

The were 78 people present for the senior dinner W ednesday,
Dec. 11, and five meals were home delivered. Elma Scott won
the free meal ticket. M embers of the Episcopal Church served.
The Senior Center Board met at 1 p.m.
The menu for the birthday and New Y ear's dinner will be
casserole, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and fruit.
M embers of the Christian Church will serve. There will no meal
Christmas week.
Ralph W alker brought a lovely, big tree to the Senior Center,
set it up, and put the light and the top ornam ents on it. The
seniors appreciate him doing that every year.
Mary Jean and Ernie McCabe did a beautiful job of decorating
the dining room for Christm as. We appreciate them decorating
throughout the year.
Eighteen seniors and driver Ed Baker went by senior bus to
the Singing Christm as tree in Hermiston, Saturday afternoon,
Dec. 14. They had dinner at Shari's Restaurant afterwards.
Ed Baker will take the seniors to see the Christmas lighting Fri­
day evening, Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m . Those wishing to go on the
bus may sign up at the Senior Center office.
The Red Cross will have a blood drawing at the Senior Center,
Tuesday, Dec. 31. Everyone is invited to come and "giv e the gift
of life ."
O ther dates to rem em ber: Tuesday and Thursday exercise, 10
a.m .; Friday cards, 2 p.m .; Sunday movie, 7 p.m . The W ednes­
day schedule will be back to normal on Jan. 8.
