The varsity and JV Fillies
traveled to Moro last Tuesday,
October 15, to take on the
Sherman County Huskies.
And both the Heppner squads
chalked up another win.
The varsity won Game One
15-10, with 91 percent success
at the service tine. In Game
Two the Huskies jumped out
to an early lead, then cruised
in to win the game, 8-15.
Game Three the Fillies
renewed
their
intensity,
serving another 91 percent,
and trotted to a 15-7 win over
the Huskies to win the game
and the match.
The stats show a balanced
offensive attack with kills
coming from seven o f the Filly
girls.
Lori Moeller led the
way with 10/10 hits with three
kills and a perfect 14/14 from
the service line.
Mindy
Binchus was 5/7 hits with
four kills.
The Heppner JV took another
win from Sherman County,
15-6, 15-2. In both games the
JV Fillies frustrated the
Huskies'
defense
with
consistent servimg and an
aggressive net game. T heJV ’s
met a team goal with 86
percent service success for the
match behind the 100%
service efforts of Christy
Kenny, Brooke Boyer, Melissa
Cutsforth. Linsey Ropp, Jamie
Perez and Jaci Hughes.
JV Fillies play w ell at tourney
by Molly Rhea
The JV Fillies participated at
the Pendleton Buck's C-team
tournament on Friday, October
11.
The Heppner JV’s
produced a high level o f play
and took wins over Long
Creek's varsity, Southridge
(of the Tri-Cities), and the
Baker B team to come out as
the number one team in pool
play.
Advancing to bracket play.
Heppner lost to the Baker A
suuad in a close game. 12-15,
which eliminated them from
the tournament.
Coach Susan Hisler said she
was pleased with the intense
level o f play and the
outstanding 89 percent service
success for the day.
“I have a team any coach
would love to have,” said
Hisler. ‘i t 's been a fun season
and one all the girls should be
proud of."
The outcome o f the October
17 match up with the three
Weston-McEwen teams was
just the opposite o f their first
meeting with the Fillies. And
as far as the varsity Fillies are
concerned, this outcome was
far from ideal.
The C-team started out with
an exciting match, winning in
three 15-6, 3-15, 16-14. This
young team is improving with
every outing and learning how
to put together the wins.
The Heppner JV 's revenged
an earlier loss to the strong
Tiger-Scot JV 's, winning the
match 9-15, 15-3, 15-9. After
dropping the first game, the JV
Fillies
came
back
and
controlled game two for an
easy win. Game three was tied
8-8 when Casey Ingraham
stepped behind the serv ice line
to deal out points 9 through 15
to win the game and the
match.
JV Coach Susan Hisler cited
strong play from Jaci Hughes
in the back row. Brooke
Boyer's setting , and net
performance from Ingraham.
Kim Pointer and Jessica
Maben.
"This team outdid themselves
tonight with 91 percent
serving success.” said Hisler.
100 percent serv ice success for
the night came from Boyer.
Linsey
Ropp.
Melissa
Cutsforth and Jaci Hughes.
