The Heppner High School homecoming court was crowned during halftime at the Mustangs vs. Stan­

Cards lose to Cougars in tough one Church plans

On Oct. 4 at Echo, both the
Lady Cardinals and the Lady
Cougars had problems with
their serving through almost
the complete first rotation in
game one.
Echo found their stride first
and scored the first points. It
was a powerful game, with
long volleys and good saves.
After 25 minutes of play, the
score was Echo 9, lone 7. Kem-
mery Burright, Brenda Bur-
right, Stephanie Haguewood
and Laree Anderson scored
lone's points.
The final in that game was
lone, 7, Echo, 15.
The second game was also
long and exciting, with long
volleys and excellent serving.
Echo got the early lead, but
lone fought back and forged
ahead. B. Burright made eight
points, with two of them aces,
but lone lost the battle at the
end, 13-15.
Lady Cardinals down Falcons

The Lady Cardinals played
the Wheeler Falcons at Fossil
on Sept. 20. The match went to
three games before lone came
out the winner.
In the first game, Kemmery
Burright served six unanswer­
ed points to tie the game, 11-all,
but the Falcons surged ahead to
win it, 11-15.
In the second game, Jenny
Sullivan had a string of six
unanswered points, Burright
added six more and Laree
Anderson, two, for lone's win,
15-10.

Burright each scored several
points to lead the Lady Car­
dinals to the win, 15-3.
harvest festival
H eppner First C hristian
Church will have their annual
Harvest Festival on Sunday,
Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. In addition to
a potluck dinner, the program
will include special music and
a guest speaker, Dr. Dan
Cameron, professor of ministry
at Boise Bible College in Boise,
ID.
The community is invited to
come and share in the fellow­
ship of the evening, said a
spokesperson.
