    Reception set for Judge Abrams
A retirement reception for
Judge Robert Abrams has been
planned for Thursday, Sept. 26
from 4-6 p.m. at All Saints
Episcopal Church of Heppner.
Judge Abrams has submitted
his resignation as circuit court
judge to Governor John Kitz-
haber, effective Aug. 31.
Abrams said in a letter of
resignation Aug. 23 that he had
hoped to complete his second
full term as circuit court judge
of the Sixth Judicial District,
but, because of a "disabling
stroke" on July 30, 1995, he
was unable to carry out his
duties.

Marion, lived around 29 years
in Heppner where he was Mor­
row County District Attorney
and also had a private law prac­
tice The couple have five
grown children.
Guest preacher to be at Hope-Valby
The Reverend Richard Eggen
of Kennewick, will be the guest
preacher at the 9a.m . worship
service at Valby Lutheran
Church, lone, and at the 11
a.m. service at Hope Lutheran,
Heppner, on Sunday, Sept. 8.
No stranger to Morrow
County, Pastor Eggen served a
number of years as the pastor
at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Hermiston, and later as the
pastor of Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church in Boardman.
Sunday School at Hope
Lutheran will begin on Sun­
day, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. Child-
ren will join their parents for
the beginning of worship ser­
vice, and will then be dismiss­
ed during the second hymn to
go downstairs and meet their
teachers. For more information

St. Patrick’s Senior Center
Bulletin Board
There were 75 people present for the senior meal Aug. 28. Two
meals were home delivered and one meal was taken out. Peggy
Connor won the free meal ticket and the birthday gift certificate
went to Callie Huddleston.
Members of the lone United Church of Christ served, and Joe
Bacon and Steve Allen helped serve. The seniors appreciate hav­
ing them, all the other young people and other volunteers who
have helped this summer. Jane Rawlins, secretary of the Meal
Site Committee, introduced the other members of the group
before the meal.
The menu for the dinner Sept. 11 will be spaghetti with meat
sauce, green salad, peaches, french bread, cheese sticks and
cookies. Members of the Catholic Church will serve. The Senior
Center Board will meet following the meal.
Before the meal, at 11:45 a.m., entertainment promised by the
Meal Site Committee will be a reading from a Gilbert and Sullivan
production. Future entertainment will be announced in the senior
news bulletin a week in advance.
There is now a suggestion box in the dining room with a pad
and pen for writing suggestions, gripes or questions concern­
ing the meals or the senior center.
The tenants of the building gave a farewell party for Lydia
Wilson Thursday afternoon. Cake, ice cream and beverages were
served to 16 people. Lydia will be iving at the Hermiston Ter­
race Assisted Living Residence. The address is 980 Highland
Ave., Hermiston, OR 97838, for those who wish to write to her.
One table of cards was in play Friday afternoon.
There are still seats available on the senior bus for the trip to
the Pendleton Round-Up Dress Up Parade on Saturday, Sept.
7. The bus will leave the Senior Center at 5 p.m. There are also
empty seats for the trip to the Hermiston meal site Thursday,
Sept. 12. Departure time is 10:30 a.m.
Other dates to remember: Tuesday and Thursday exercise, 10
a.m .; Wednesday blood pressures taken, 11 a.m., senior meal,
noon; Friday cards, 2 p.m.; Sunday movie, 7 p.m.
Remember to watch for the announcements of future enter­
tainment before the Wednesday senior meals.
