P,A.'s Report
The District Attorney's office
at the courthouse in Heppner
reports handling the following
business during the past week:
July 10: Aaron Alexander
Anello, 17, Chehalis, WA, is
scheduled to be sentenced as
an adult in Morrow County
Court. Because of Anello's ex
tensive juvenile record, the
Oregon Department of Correc
tions is recommending that
Anello serve 17.8 years accor
ding to Morrow County district
attorney Earl Woods, Jr.
Anello was convicted May 2
of Kidnap I and Robbery I
stemming from an incident that
occurred March . 19 when
Anello and Tyson Doolin, 19,
also Chehalis, abducted Brett
Vernon Thomas of Kennewick,
WA near the on ramp to 1-84 at
the Boardman interchange.
According to Woods, Anello
and Doolin were hitchhiking
with two young women when
Thomas stopped to give them
a ride.
Doolin pulled a pistol on
Thomas and Anello took a
firearm belonging to Thomas
that was in the vehicle and
pointed it at Thomas.
Thomas was released near
the interchange at Hwy 74 and
1-84 before Anello and Doolin
were captured by the police.
Woods said that Anello has
filed, with Morrow County Cir
cuit Court, an extensive brief
which challenges Oregon
State's newly-enacted Ballot
Measure 11, which subjects
juveniles to adult jurisdiction in ,
the instance of very serious
crimes.
Woods says that Doolin is ex
pected to receive 15 years in
prison because his record ex
tensive record.
Anello will be in the Oregon
State Pentitentiary pending the
apeal process in the Oregon
Court of Appeals and the
Oregon Supreme Court.
July 11: Donald Gene
Hedley, 66, Irrigon, will be
sentenced in Morrow County
Court. Hedley was convicted
June 13 of three independent
charges of Sodomy I with a
seven year old boy.
According to Woods, the
Oregon Department of Correc
tions is recommending that
Hedley serve 29 years, four
months.
