Schonbachler got the nod for his work on the mound and Matheny was voted an utility player. Matheny had an outstanding first year, amassing 17 RBIs and a team-leading .333 batting average. Matheny nailed two home runs as well to go along with his near-flawless defense. "Today more than ever in our society, the American father is fast becoming an endangered species," said Pastor Hoobing. "Children, families and socie­ ty in general are suffering because of it." Services of Holy Communion will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Valby Lutheran Church, lone. An adult Bible study on the Gospel of St. Luke will precede the worship service. The study begins at 8:15 a.m. A special congregational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend to discuss plans for the future.
