Organizers for the annual
lone Church of Christ Auction
and Barbecue, scheduled for
Saturday, June 1, at the
Willows Grange Hall in lone,
have compliled a huge list of
auction items.
Some of the items to be auc
tioned off include: two buffets,
a table, piano stool with ball
and claw feet, two rockers, wall
telephone, antique cigarette
stand, antique clock. Besides
furniture and antiques, local
residents have provided some
of their homemade or home
grown goodies. Jannie Allen Devin Oil is donating 100

Pendleton Round-Up Hall of
Fame, Hall of Fame president
Jack Sweek has announced.
"Outstanding representa
tives of the livestock industry,
the Currins are a family of
Round-Up champions and
royalty," said Sweek.
"Nationally recognized com
petitors, these crowd-pleasers
regard Pendleton as their
hometown rodeo. Ron Sr., his
wife Judy, sons Mike, Ron Jr.,
Tony and Steve, and daughter
Jennifer, have been enthusiastic
ambassadors for the Round-Up
everywhere they travel. These
working cowboys have won
money in every timed event,
and Round-Up titles including
the All-Around. Judy and Jen
nifer are past Round-Up
queens," continued Sweek.
Red Cross blood
drive set for June
Heppner residents can help
ensure blood is available to pa
tients needing transfusions this
spring by donating blood at the
Red Cross blood drive planned
Tuesday, June 18, at St.
Patrick's Senior Center, 182
North Main, from 2-6 p.m.
Donors must be 17 or older,
weight at least 105 pounds and
be in good general health. To
schedule a donation appoint

Mike Currin died in a plane
accident on the way to a rodeo
in 1990.
Also inducted into the Hall of
Fame were "Big Tom" Simon-
ton and calf roper Dean Oliver.
Simonton, who has passed
away, painted cartoons on
Heppner Main Street busi
nesses before the Morrow
County Fair and Rodeo for
many years. His store-window
cartoons were a harbinger of
the Pendleton Round-Up for
more than 40 years.
"A lw ays promoting the
Round-Up, Simonton was a
Round-Up volunteer for 40
years and a Happy Canyon
volunteer for more than 30
years," said Sweek.
A native of Pendleton, Sim
onton never missed a Round-
Up except during his years of
service in the U.S. Navy. Sim
onton also originated several
Happy Canyon acts. In 1990,
he was inducted into the Uma-
