munities and large,” was the
key message in the "Chambers
of the 21st Century” session.
Keith Woods of the Santa Rosa
Chamber concluded with, "In
sanity is doing the same thing
over and over and expecting
different results."
Probably the most refreshing
and uplifting part of the con
ference was the luncheon
speaker who brought the entire
audience to their feet after giv
ing a slide presentation and
from-the-heart talk on thé
threat to timber, cattle and min
ing and the importance of them
to humanity and to "rural
areas, which are not dispos
able.”
The world is run by those
who show up and there must
be a balance to protect the en
vironm ent and hum anity.
While it's not possible to nuke
five billion people, it's time to
remind them where their food
and economy comes from. The
enemy is ignorance and the
silent majority needs to come
together and work together.
Bruce Vincent, a sixth genera
tion private logger, was taped
while giving the talk (a future
Chamber program).
A m bassadors/greeters was
another session, which brings
me away from thoughts of the
conference and to more impor
tant events at hand, our Wee
Bit O'lreland celebration. Think
70 degree weather, get your
parade entries and O'shanties
ready, get your tickets to "The
Irish Cowboy” and volunteer
to join the leprechaun am
bassadors in Tri-Cities this
weekend to promote our event.
Thought for the week: See a
bit o'trash, please don't let it
lay; put it in the can, before St.
Patrick's Day. Join Chamber for
the Main Street and around
town clean-up Wednesday,
March 13.
