St. Patrick's Senior Center
Bulletin Board
There were 107 present for the senior meal on Wednesday,
Nov. 1, including 10 guests from Kinzua Resources. Kinzua had
donated beef, pork and lamb, purchased at the livestock auc
tion at the fair. Two meals were home delivered. Margaret Dubu
que won the meal ticket and Grace Baker, the bingo ticket.
Members of the Seventh Day Adventist and Nazarene churches
served.
A sad farewell was said to Don and Shirley Haugen who will
be moving to Pasco. They will be missed. We wish them hap
piness in their new home.
The menu for the Thanksgiving dinner, Nov. 15, is baked
turkey roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing, mixed
vegetables, candied yams, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin
pie cake. Members of the Methodist Church will serve.
The Heppner Senior Meal Site had a fund raising soup and
chili supper Monday evening, Oct. 30. It was well attended.
Funds will be used for needed kitchen equipment. The help of
the cooks and Coral Mitchell's volunteer crew is much appre
ciated.
The senior bus, driven by Ed Baker, took seniors out to the
fairgrounds for the CBEC dinner Thursday evening, Nov. 2.
Twelve volunteers folded newsletters for the Extension Service
on Thursday. There was one table of pinochle in play Friday after
noon. Six people watched the movie, "Little Heroes" Sunday
evening.
Dates to remember: Tuesday and Thursday exercise, 10 a.m.;
Wednesday blood pressure clinic, 11 a.m., senior meal noon,
quilting, 1 p.m.; Friday cards, 2 p.m.; Sunday movie, 6 p.m.
The quilters have started quilting the St. Patrick's quilt and
could use more quilters.
The Senior Center is again asking for substitute volunteers
because of illnesses and volunteers moving away. Call the of
fice, 676-9030, or stop by and leave your name and which shift
you prefer, morning or afternoon. Your help would be much
appreciated.

Singspiration set at
Lexington Church
Singspiration will be held
Sunday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., at
the Lexington Baptist Church.
The Singspiration, sponsored
by the South Morrow County
Ministerial Association, is held
monthly during the school
year. People from local chur
ches meet to offer songs of
praise and worship together.
During this time, the au
dience may select their favorite
song or chorus for all to sing
together. A freewill offering is
taken, with the money used to
help others in need. After the
singing is over, those attending
gather in the fellowship hall for
refreshments and visiting.
The public is invited to join
in on this ecumenical service.
Anyone who would like to
share a song is asked to think
about it ahead and inform the
group when first arriving at the
church.

"Aaagh! Help! Oooh! Boo!"
We did it again! What a great
turnout for the School Carnival
and the Haunted House. I had
a wonderful time organizing
and setting up for this haunting
event. The crew outdid them
selves and put in great efforts
to scare you people our of your
wits and they did a great job!
I had a large group of people
this year, 43 to be exact, plus
extras for patroling and you all
deserve a pat on the back. It's
exciting to know people en
joyed it on both ends.
The following need to be
acknowledged and they are: for
donations, gifts, and time-
Heppner Elks for casket, hang
man, and such, and Roger
Mortimore for asking; Shoe Box
for body parts; Ken and Kae-
dene Bailey family for haunting
items and especially time; Jay,
Darcy and Jode Coil for items
and your "bouncer" ability!;
Russell and Drew Brannon for
time and patience; Bob DeS-
pain for carpentry, time and
your poor, abused pick-up (I've
told you, you can say no to
your daughter!); Arletha Bran
non for candelabras and
candles; Herman Winters for
pumpkins, they made a won
derful gift for those who didn't
have one; Tom and Jane Raw
lins for the cornstalks; Jeff,
Christal, Sheena and Josh
Shank for the blocks of wood;
Clyde and Jackie Allstott for the
electric chair; Alan Burkenbine
for saving the wonderful
bones; Doug Orwick for the
Haunted House book, it had
great ideas and ones we plan to
use next year too; Braden and
Mikel Britt and Brittany Boothe
were great helpers and I know
they will be experts by the time
I need them in 5 years.
Big thank you's to the people-
who helped me keep it togeth
er: Jay Coil, Ken Bailey, Ron
Bowman (and what would I do
without you? Oh keep it to
yourself!); Kirsten Harrison,
Marcia Anderson, Sid and Cin
dy Kennedy and Hoby Hansen
for helping clean up.
I couldn't do it without the
crew and they are: ticket takers-
Monica Burkenbine and Seth
Givens; tourers-Abby Kahl,
Tracy Rankin, Jayme Hansen,
Sherry Sieler; head on platters-
Brett Barber, Lacey Matteson,
Kelsey Greenup; gypsies-Claire
Anderson and Julie Proctor;
electric chair-Kimberly and
Susan Hansen, Michael Mc
Cabe, Ryan Matteson; scare-
crow-Tai Sweek; coffin-Elliott
Strouse, Josh Sharp, Royal
Robinson; Cemetery-Chris and
Brad Bowman, Leif Nesse;
dungeon-Meghan Bailey, Shel
ley Rietmann; hangman-Krista
Adams, Sarah Eckman, Ca
mille Sykes; tunnel-Aleea
Strouse, Tara Ozment, Brandi
and Jeanette Brantley, Echo,
Brandi Burnett; Nightmare on
Elm Street-Ben Hubert, Trisha
Adams, Leah Denton, Macy
Rhea; chained man-John Sar
gent; thing-Melinda Smith,
Roxie Miller; and the ninja-
Marcy Miller.
Thank you all so much for a
job well done. I hope to see
some of you back again next
year for another "bigger and
better" spooky and thrilling
haunted house!
Kaedene, we did an AWE
SOME job! I'll be Back!
