m * Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, September 27, 1995 - FIVE Obituaries Glenn Jacob Sherer Graveside services for Glenn Jacob Sherer were Saturday, September 23 at the Echo Cemetery. Mr. Sherer, 89, of Union, died Wednesday, September 20,1995, at his home in Union. He was born November 19, 1905, at Moscow, Idaho, to Guy and Cora Gilman Sherer. He graduated from high school at Lexington. On September 3, 1930, he married Margaret Melville at Pilot Rock. They lived in Hepp- ner until 1939 when they mov­ ed to La Grande for three years before moving to Portland. In 1950, they moved to Echo where Mr. Scherer was an in­ surance and real estate agent for many years. They moved to Union in 1973 when they re­ tired. Mr. Sherer was a member of the Umatilla Masonic Lodge 40 in Echo. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mrs. Sherer died in 1984, and a brother, Don Munkers, also died earlier. Survivors include brothers, Harold "D oc” Sherer of lone and Riley Munkers of Hepp- ner, and a sister, Joann Boas of Illinois. Dave Stirewalt David William " D a v e " Stirewalt, 81, of Spray, died Wednesday, September 20, 1995, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville. Memorial services were September 23 at the Spray School gymnasium. Mr. Stirewalt was born January 4, 1914, at Colville, Washington to Daniel and Jeannie Forbes Stirewalt. He grew up in the Sour Dough Ridge area near Spray. He was the owner/operator of the JD Ranch near Spray. He married Jane R. McAndie at Winnemucca, Nevada, in Ju­ ly 1971. He had been a member of the Spray Rodeo Association and had served on the Spray School Board for several years. He enjoyed rodeo, hunting, fishing and raising animals. Survivors include his wife, Jane, at the home; his son, Dan of Prineville; stepchildren, Janet Davis of Spray, Bruce Wilson of Bend and Susan Caswell of Enterprise; brother, Jim of Spray; sisters, Sarah Pemberton of Redmond and Ruby McCracken of Gold Hill, and several grandchildren. A daughter, Vivian Wagenblast and a brother, preceded him in death. Jack Sumner Jack Sumner, 60, of Portland, a former District 59 State Representative, died of cancer on Sunday, September 17, 1995, at Portland. Cryptside services were held Saturday, September 23, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and Mauso­ leum. Mr. Sumner was born May 14, 1935, at Prineville. He graduated from Heppner High School and attended Oregon State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering. On December 14, 1974, he and his wife, Sharon, were married. He was a farmer and a fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He was a member of the Odd Fellows P.G .M ., BPOE in Heppner; was Oregon State Representative of District 59 for four sessions in the Oregon Legislature; had been chairman of the Morrow County School Board for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling and was involved in sports with his daughter. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Sumner of Portland; sons, Charlie of Lexington and Jeff of Hillsboro; daughters Sal­ ly Runyan of Vancouver, WA„ Jaci Jones of Logan, Utah; and Tiffani and Brooke, both of Portland; stepsons, Mike Gard­ ner, Patrick Gardner and Steve Gardner; brothers, Jim of The Dalles, Tom of Arlington and Jay in California; a sister, Laura Krenk of Springfield; and seven grandchildren. A son, John, died in March and a sister, Jean, also preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. Rowing (Womens Rowing Endow­ ment), 201 S. Buschke was Saturday, Sep­ tember 23, 1995 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Heppner. Concluding service and burial was at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery. Mrs. Buschke, 85, of Hepp­ ner, died Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. She was bom September 25, 1909, at Hardman, to Frank and Pearl McDaniel Miller. She was raised and attended school in Burton Valley near Hardman and attended high school at Hardman. She married Max F. Buschke on May 27, 1928, at Heppner. They lived in the Rhea Creek area for several years, then returned to Hardman for a time before moving to Heppner in 1943. Mrs. Buschke worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Heppner until the office was closed and later worked at Dr. Huber's dental office and was co-owner/operator of Miladies, a dress shop in Heppner with her aunt from 1959 until 1978. She enjoyed sewing, crochet­ ing, playing cards and being with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Heppner and the Morrow County Historical Society. Survivors include son, Del- mer Buschke, of Heppner; daughters, Joyce Ward of Heppner and Carol Shipps of Kennewick, Washington; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grand­ children and three great-great- grandchildren. Sheriff« Report The Morrow County Sheriff's Office in Heppner reports dispatching the following business during the past week: Sept. 17: Morrow County deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle situation off of Boardman Bombing Range Road; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon Marina for a disturbance. Sept. 18: Morrow County deputy began an investigation of maintaining a dog as a public nuisance; Morrow County deputy in­ vestigated smoke from a house on Gale Street, Heppner. The deputy was unable to locate anything; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Lexington Emergency Medical Techni­ cians and the Heppner am­ bulance to a one car rollover on Hwy 207 mile post 4. A Mor­ row County deputy also responded to the scene. Two people were transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner; Morrow County deputy responded to a juvenile pro­ blem on Idaho Street in Irrigon; Morrow County deputy responded to a report of harass­ ment at the Woodlands of Ir­ rigon Trailer Court. Sept. 19: Morrow County deputy responded to a residence in lone for a com­ plaint of vandalism; Morrow County deputy responded to the Lexington area for a traffic hazard on the road; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Boardman Fire Dept, to a business in Boardman for a report in the general area. The dispatch was cancelled enroute; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Boardman ambulance to Dodge City Motel room 38 for a male with an il­ lness. No transport was made. Sept. 20: Morrow County Sheriff's office located a stolen vehicle off of Kunze Road in Boardman. The vehicle was impounded; Morrow County deputy ar­ rested Mark McCormick, 35, of Irrigon, for Contempt of Court. McCormick was taken to court and sentenced; Morrow County deputy ar­ rested Lawrence Perrin, 19, of Irrigon, on a Circuit Court war­ rant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. A citation was issued in lieu of lodging. Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Mitchell am­ bulance for a cardiac problem; Morrow County deputy responded to assist the Irrigon Fire Dept, with a structural fire on Nevada Street in Irrigon. Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Boardman ambulance to a reported motor vehicle accident one mile east of Boardman. The ambulance was unable to locate anything; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Arlington Fire Dept, to a grass fire at Blaylock Canyon Road; Morrow County deputy responded to the Riverview Motel, Boardman, for a civil problem; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Boardman ambulance to the Raytheon Plant, Boardman, for a male with injuries. The patient was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Heppner ambulance to Blake Ranch for an accident. No transport was made; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Condon ambulance to Summit Springs. Patient was transported to Mid- Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Fossil Fire Dept, to a field fire east of Fossil; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon area for a disturbance. The deputy was unable to locate anything. Sept. 23: Morrow County deputies responded to a residence in Irrigon for a fami­ ly disturbance. Lucino Nava Gonzalez, 30, was arrested for Menacing and Pointing a Fire­ arm at another person. Gon­ zalez was lodged at the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Heppner ambulance to a residence on Water Street for a male with an illness. The patient was air­ lifted; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon area for a report of vandalism; Morrow County deputy in­ vestigated a report of domestic disturbance with a possible suicidal subject in the Irrigon area; Morrow County deputy began an investigation of theft of jewelry from an Irrigon residence; Morrow County deputy began an investigation of a traf­ fic accident on Hwy 74 near Sand Hollow Road. Darrell William Cecil, 65, Pilot Rock, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Assaulting a Public Safety Of­ ficer and Resisting Arrest. Cecil was lodged at the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office jail; Morrow County deputy responded to Hwy 730, Irrigon, to investigate a report of a traf­ fic problem, driving complaint. The deputy was unable to locate anything. Sept. 24: Morrow County deputy responded to a distur­ bance at Country Garden Estates, Irrigon; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Condon Fire Dept, to a grass fire near the Condon Air Base; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Boardman ambulance to the BP station for a five week old baby with an il­ lness. No transport was made; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Arlington ambulance to the Village Inn Restaurant for a female with an illness. The patient was transported to the Mid- Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles. Sept. 25: Morrow County Sheriff's office dispatched the Boardman Fire Dept, for a grass fire at Kunze Road and Hilltop Drive, Boardman; Morrow County Sheriff's of­ fice dispatched the Boardman ambulance to the Fire Hall for a man with an illness. The pa­ tient was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon Fire Hall for a report of vandalism.
