Bulletin Board
There were 84 people present for the senior meal August 30.
Two meals were home delivered. Tom Gonty won the birthday
certifícate, Lois Winchester the free meal ticket. Lynn Bibby and
her daughter were hostesses. Members of the Seventh Day
Adventist and Nazarene churches served. Blood pressures were
taken before the meal.
The menu for the dinner September 13 will be salmon roll-up
with biscuit crust, parsleyed potatoes, creamed peas, fruit and
cookies. Members of the Methodist Church will serve. Blood
pressures will be taken at 11 a.m. A training meeting for the of
fice staff, including substitutes, will be held at 10 a.m. in the of
fice. The senior board will meet at 1 p.m.
One table of pinochle was in play Friday, Sept. 1.
Elsie H uston's son brought in a table full of garden produce
for the seniors Friday. The seniors are grateful for what he and
all the other generous gardeners have brought.
The bus schedule for September is as follows: September 7,
10 a.m. to the Condon meal site for lunch at noon, followed by
a tour of tire Summit Springs Village Senior living complex; Sept.
9, 3 p.m. to Pendleton for dinner at the King's Table and the
Round-Up Dress Up Parade; Sept. 19, 9:30 a.m., to the Mission
meal site for lunch. The bus will also go to Hardman for the
Oyster Feed Sept. 30.
O ther dates to remember: Tuesday and Thursday exercise 10
a.m., Wednesday blood pressures taken 11 a.m., senior meal at
noon, Friday cards 2 p.m., Sunday movie 7 p.m.

Obituary
George Guy Morgan
George Guy Morgan, 70,
Coos Bay, formerly of Hepp
ner, died August 29, 1995, at
Coos Bay.
Funeral services were held
Sept. 1 at the Coos Bay Chapel.
Mr. Morgan was bom Aug
ust 21,1925, at Grand Junction,
Colorado. He was a World War
II Army veteran and was one
of nine survivors of the 80 HQ
75 infantry after the Battle of
the Bulge. He served in France
at St. Lo and the Ruhr Valley
Pocket. He was awarded two
overseas service bars, the Euro
pean African Middle Eastern
Campaign Medal with three
bronze battle stars, a good con
duct medal and the WrWII Vic
tory medal bronze star.
Mr. Morgan married Irene
Ingalls Dec. 1,1946, at Toledo.
In 1949, as a Heppner city
waste employee, he was elec
ted the city manager, the city
water marshall and the chief of
police for one year. He later
worked in Heppner as a pow
der monkey and helped blow
out the hill where the hospital
is located.
For the past 40 years, the
Morgans have resided in the
Coos Bay area. Mr. Morgan
was employed as a millwright
at Weyerhauser's main mill for
30 years until he retired in 1985.
He Was a past president and ac
tive member of the Coos Bay
Eagles Lodge Aerie no. 538. He
was a former member of the
Elks and Moose lodges. He en
joyed working and hunting.
Survivors include his wife,
Irene, Coos Bay; four
daughters and sons-in-law,
Marcella and John DeVoe,
Allegany, Mickie and Chris
topher Ebert and Faith and
George Eisele, all Coos Bay,
and Melinda Little, Wenatchee,
WA; one son and daughter-in-
law, Michael and Carla Mor
gan, Hermiston; 16 grand-,
children and 20 great grand
children.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, Guy and Stella
Cooper Morgan and a brother,
James G. Morgan.
