The Morrow County Sheriff's
office in Heppner reports dis­
patching the following business
during the past week:
July 18: Morrow County de­
puty began an investigation ot
vandalism at the Irrigon City
Park;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Condon Fire
Dept, to a business on Main
St., Condon, for an electrical
fire;
Morrow County deputy
responded to a complaint of
vandalism at Boardman Foods
at the Port of Morrow, Board-
man;
Morrow County deputy
responded to a complain of
possible break-in attempts at
the Irrigon Mobile Court;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Heppner
Fire Dept, to the area of the
high school for a grass fire;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
Fire Dept, to a vehicle fire on
1-84, milepost 160 eastbound;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
ficer investigated allegations of
a disturbance at the Irrigon
Mobile Court;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
ficer responded to Kinkaid in
Boardman for assistance with a
medical matter;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
ficer responded to Birch St.,
lone, for a report of Assault.
John Fulton, 38, of lone, was
arrested for Assault TV.
July 19: Morrow County
deputy responded to lone for
a welfare check. All was fine;
Morrow County deputy res­
ponded to a vandalism com­
plaint at an Irrigon residence;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Fossil am­
bulance to the Haven House in
Fossil for an adult female with
an illness. The patient was
transported to the Mid-Colum­
bia Medical Center in The
Dalles;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice responded to an alarm at
Cascade Specialities/Board-
man. The officer was unable to
locate anything; everything
was secure;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
ambulance to Anderson Circle
for an injury. The injured per­
son was transported by a pri­
vate vehicle;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Condon
ambulance to Washington St.
for a male with an illness. The
patient was transported to the
Mid-Columbia Medical Center
in The Dalles;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
ambulance to Wilson Road
Trailer Court for a report of a
female with injuries. They were
unable to locate the injured
person;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
ambulance to the Trail Apart­
ments for an injury. No trans­
port was made.
July 20: Morrow County
deputy arrested Kevin Craig
Martin, 20, of Hermiston on a
Hermiston Municipal warrant
for Violation of Release Agree­
ment for Theft III. Martin was
lodged at the Umatilla County
Sheriff's Office;
Morrow County deputy ar­
rested Roger Dale Wilkinson,
24, of Irrigon, on Failure to Ap-
pear/Possession of a Controll­
ed Substance, Failure to Ap-
pear/Theft I and Failure to Ap-
pear/Unlawful Possession of a
Firearm. Total bail was set at
$37,500. Wilkinson was lodged
at the Umatilla County Jail;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
ambulance to Route 1. One
male with an illness was trans­
ported to Good Shepherd
Community Hospital in Her­
miston;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to the Irrigon area for
a neighborhood disturbance;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to the Nomad for a
complaint of a transient person;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to take a report of an
Assault. The investigation is
continuing;
Morrow County deputy ar­
rested Robert E. Flanagan, 20,
of Irrigon, for Criminal Mischief
II. Hanagan was cited and re­
leased;
Morrow County deputy
responded to Woodlands of Ir­
rigon Trailer Park for a report
of shots fired. The deputy was
unable to locate.
July 21: Morrow County
deputy began an investigation
in the Irrigon area of a reported
juvenile problem;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Fossil Fire
Dept, to an alarm at the Fossil
Grade School. The alarm turn­
ed out to be false;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the lone, Hepp­
ner and Lexington Fire Depts.
to a structure fire in lone on 3rd

Morrow County deputy in­
vestigated a suspicious person
in the Irrigon area;
Morrow County deputy
began an investigation of a
juvenile problem in Irrigon;

tacted a subject in the Irrigon
area on a civil matter.
July 22: Morrow County
Sheriff's office dispatched the
Boardman ambulance to the
Frontier Trailer Park for a male
with an illness. No transport
was made;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Heppner
ambulance to a residence on
Gale St. for a male with an il­
lness. The patient was trans­
ported to Pioneer Memorial
Hospital;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
Fire Dept, to a car fire at the
Texaco Station on Main St. in
Boardman;
Morrow County deputy
responded to the Irrigon area
for a family disturbance.
July 23: Morrow County
Sheriff's office dispatched the
Condon ambulance to Summit
Springs for an adult male with
breathing problems. The pa­
tient was transported to the
Mid-Columbia Medical Center
in The Dalles;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Arlington
ambulance to the Ramsey
ranch area for a rollover. Two
people were transported to
Mid-Columbia Medical Center
in The Dalles.
July 24: Morrow County
Sheriff's office dispatched the
Boardman ambulance and the
Fire Dept, to 1-84, milepost 154
eastbound for a motor vehicle
accident. The dispatch was
cancelled en route;
Morrow County deputy
assisted the Boardman Police
Dept, at the Wilson Trailer
Court on a disturbance com­
plaint;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
Fire Dept, and the ambulance
for an adult male with an injury
at a residence on Blaylock St.
No transport was made;
Morrow County deputy
responded to a family distur­
bance in the Irrigon area;
Morrow County deputy in­
vestigated a suspicious vehicle
report on Highway 74 out of
Heppner.

the field for the nine-hole

each tee, the men shot the se­
cond shot and the group
scrambled in to the hole.

Joyce Dinkins and Ray and
Norma French, second, Mike
and Cindi Doherty and George
and Debbie Koffler, third, Ran­
dy and Bernice Lott and Earl
and Carol Norris, fourth, Bob
and Sue Jepsen and Jim and

The Weather Service relies on
these spotters to report severe
weather such as hail, lightning,
strong winds, heavy rains and
even tornadoes. At the first
sign of bad weather, spotters
The Human Race will take
place August 6 at Waterfront
Park in Portland, and the lone
Youth Group and friends plan
to be there.
The Human Race is a fund­
raising event for service
organizations throughout
Oregon. It is a 5K run, 5K walk
or 3K walk where participants
collect pledges to be donated to
the service project of the
group's choice. lone Youth
Group members are collecting
pledges for Outreach Ministry
in Burnside.
This is the second year that
the lone group has participated
in the Human Race. Over
$2,000 was raised last year and
donated to the ministry. This
was the highest pledge col­
lected from any group and they
won an OMSI visit to their
school. Outreach Ministry also
won for the most contributions
received.
Outreach Ministry offers the
opportunity for dignity and in­
dependence for the homeless
and hungry in a family-style
program. Founded more than
12 years ago through the deter­
mination and compassion of
one woman, Sr. Maria Francis,
the ministry manages funds for
housing, food, medical and
mental health referrals and of­
fers a “ friendly safe haven off
the streets," says a press
release.
The lone group will walk in
memory of their friend, Jason
Halvorsen, who was killed in a
car accident in April 1994.
Halvorsen was one of the
students who had planned to
participate in the race last year,
and after his death, the lone
community rallied to collect
donations in his memory.
The lone Youth Group wel­
comes everyone of all ages to
join them in this year's race.
Anyone not able to walk or run
may still participate by making
donations.

Trina Lankford receives scholarship
Trina Lankford of Boardman
has been awarded a $540 skill
enhancement award from the
Northeast Oregon Area Health
Education Center (NEOAHEC)
in La Grande. This award is to
help finance an independent
study program in anatomy and
physiology.
To qualify for this award, ap­
plicants are required to work at
a health care facility in north­
eastern Oregon; supply co­
workers with an inservice of
training; publish acknowledge­
ment of the grant awarded in
local newspapers and submit a
final report to NEOAHEC upon
completion.
Lankford conducted an inser­
vice at Boardman Health Care
Center in Boardman on quan­
titative and qualitative analysis
and how it differs from the
acute care setting to the am­
bulatory care setting. At the
time of grant application, she
was employed at Boardman
Health Care Center as an elec­
tronic claims specialist. She is
also employed at Good Shep­
herd Community Hospital in
Weather spotters wanted
The next time a storm ap­
proaches, a quick call from you
to the National Weather Service
office could be the first warn­
ing your community has of
severe weather. Your warning
could save lives, said a press
release from the Morrow Coun­
ty Emergency Management.
The weather office in
Pendleton is looking for 10 or
more weather spotters in Mor­
row County. Volunteers will be
provided with a rain gauge and
a basic orientation on weather
spotting.
