Chamber Chatter
By Claudia Hughes, Chamber Manager
A couple of news flashes of
interest to the community at
large:
This Saturday, June 24, the
streets of Heppner will be alive
with 900-1000 motorcycles. The
event, called Lawman 1000,
benefits the Fred Hutchinson
Cancer Research Center. Six
law enforcement officers serve
on their board of directors.
Groups from both Seattle and
Wenatchee will be arriving bet
ween the hours of no6n and 3
p.m. en route from Condon to
the Tri-Cities. They have
gathered pledges for their two-
day trip and are required to
stop in Heppner to obtain a
receipt from the business of
their choice. So, be ready with
a friendly smile to write a
receipt as they make a purchase
at your place of business.
Citizens are encouraged to
welcome them and invite them
back when they can spend
more time.
On Tuesday, June 27, Rep
resentative Lynn Lundquist
will be the Chamber program,
offering a legislative wrap-up,
and will include time for ques
tions. Previously scheduled for
this Wednesday, he had to
cancel for an emergency ses
sion in Salem, but his "meeting
p la n n e r" wife, Barb, has
assured us that he will make it
the 27th, and that, tentatively,
Senator Greg Walden will be
with him. Non-Chamber mem
bers are welcome to attend.
Please call 676-5536 to reserve
a spot for lunch; leave a
m essage on the machine.
Representative Lundquist con
tinues to work hard for our
rural communities.
Thought for the week: "If
Noah had been truly wise, he
would have swatted the two
flies".
June 19: Morrow County
d e p u ty re sp o n d ed to a
residence on Hwy 74 to assist
with a civil dispute;

assisted with a welfare check
on an Irrigon resident;

nyon area in Heppner for a
