Chamber Chatter
By Claudia Hughes, Chamber Manager
Recently, Marcia DeBo,
treasurer, and I attended a
Chamber of Commerce sem
inar in Pendleton for eastern
Oregon chambers. We return
ed with some "heavy-duty"
material and ideas to imple
ment over the next year, as well
as some motivational han
douts. Among these was the
following (a light-hearted
reminder for all of us):
"That's not my jo b ". This is
a story about four people, nam
ed Everybody, Somebody,
Anybody, and Nobody.
Whenever there was an im
portant job to be done,
Everybody was sure that
Somebody would do it. Any
body could have done it, but
Nobody did it.
When Nobody did it, Every
body got angry about it because
it was Everybody's job. Every
body thought that Somebody
would do it, but Nobody realiz
ed that Everybody would not
do it.
So consequently, Everybody
blamed Somebody when No
body did what Anybody could
have done.-Anonymous.
So how are we doing on our
"Social Capital"?
Next week at Chamber, a
video on business crime
prevention from SBDC is the
program. The following week,
George Koffler, chair of the
Heppner Coordinating Council
will share the results of the
Heppner Gap Study. July will
be shortened by the July 4th
Celebration, with chamber
holding a business meeting on
July 11; a "H O BO " tour on the
18th, and the Heppner Strate
gic Plan Review on the 25th.
Time flies.
