Sheriffs* Report
The Morrow County Sheriff's
office in Heppner reports
dispatching the following
business during the past week:
March 24: Morrow County
deputy responded to the West
Glenn Addition in Boardman
for a driving complaint. Depu­
ty was unable to locate driver.
March 25: Morrow County
deputy responded to the lone
area on Hwy 74, for a motor
vehicle accident. A tow was
called to pull the vehicle out of
a ditch. There weren't any
injuries;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Spray
EMT's to Service Creek Trad­
ing Post for a female with an il­
lness. Call was cancelled en
route;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Fossil
EMT's to the Asher Clinic to
meet a female patient with an
illness;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to assist the Heppner
Police Dept with a juvenile
problem;
Morrow County Sheriff's of­
fice dispatched the Boardman
Fire Dept to a grass fire along
the Bombing Range Road south
of Wilson Rd in Boardman. Fire
was extinguished;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to the Irrigon area for
a motor vehicle accident. A
juvenile was taken to the
hospital by a private vehicle;
Morrow County deputy
made contact with a complain-
tant in the Heppner area regar­
ding a disturbance;
Morrow County deputy
responded to assist with
Oregon State Police for a report
of a traffic problem. Deputy
was unable to locate problem.
March 26: Morrow County
deputy responded to the Hepp­
ner Jet. on 1-84, east bound for
a driving complaint;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to the Irrigon area to
take a report of burglary;
Morrow County deputy
responded to the Lexington
area to take a report of a dog
bite;
Morrow County deputy re­
sponded to the lone area for a
report of a suspicious person
walking on Hwy 74, without
any shoes on. Deputy was
unable to locate person;
Morrow County deputy
responded to the Boardman
Bombing Range for a report of
a suspicious vehicle.
March 27: Morrow County
Sheriff's office dispatched the

to Pioneer Memorial Hospital;

Palm Sunday services at
Hope and Valby churches will
be held Sunday April 9. The
service will begin in the fellow­
ship hall with the blessing of
palm crosses and a processional

This weekend was a pro­
fitable one for many area rodeo
competitors at the U.S. Team
Roping held in Rufus April 1
and 2.
Ryan Matteson and his dad
Chuck of Heppner each came
home with $811 for their fifth
place finish after roping four
head. Brett McDowell also rak­
ed in a couple thousand dollars
for winning third in the #7
roping.
Walla Walla, WA. was the
site of the NWQHA Barrel Rac­
ing on April 1. Janice Davis
came out on top in the open
with her niece Annie Hisler
placing seventh. Hisler also
placed second in the 13-25 year
old category with traveling
partner Lexi Matteson placing
fourth.

The Cub Scout Pack #661
held their pack meeting on
March 28. The Bear Den
presented the colors, lead the
Flag salute and retired the col­
ors at the end of the meeting.
The Tiger Cubs led a round
of singing "Row, Row, Row
Your Boat", and talked about
carrying pool toys and walking
in the parade in support of the
pool bond.
Webelos presented a skit on
dental hygiene.
Each boy in the Wolves Den
showed and told about the col­
lection they were doing to earn
an achievement award.
Each member of the Bears
Den tied a different knot and
told what it is used for.
Brian Haguewood and Kiel
Naims both received their Bear
badge, Brian one gold arrow
point and Kiel two by doing
achievements out of their book.
Sam Van Liew and David
Norton from the Webelos II
Den, built a telegraph to send
Morse Code and received their
Heppner High School rodeo
club has lots of talent
Heppner High School has
talent this year in the sport of
high school rodeo with Tiffanie
Munkers and Lexi Matteson
currently in the number one
position in point standings in
their events state wide. Over
100 girls and boys are par­
ticipating this year at each of
the rodeos. Along with
Munkers and Matteson the rest
of the team includes Annie
Hisler and Justin Matteson both
Heppner and Katie McCoin,
Condon.

The H eppner M ustangs
showed no mercy to the young
struggling Dufur team as they
came to Heppner April 1 and
beat the Rangers 14-0 in five
innings.
Dufur got off to a bad start,
being an hour late for the game
and struggled the whole time,
going through three pitching
changes.
Chris Dickenson struck out
eight for the Mustangs. Trent
Hughes went 3-4 at the plate
with two doubles and a single.
Heppner batted through the
line-up in the first inning scor­
ing seven runs. Eric Schon-
bachler, Dickenson and Jon
Hanna each had a single for
Heppner and Hughes had a
double in the first. Dickenson,
Hanna, Hughes, Dan Burnside
and Donnie Pointer all had
RBI's. Hughes doubled again in
the second and Chad Skroch
hit a single scoring Hanna and
Hughes. Brian Koffler got on
base with from an error scoring
Schonbahler, and Dickenson
who also made it to first off an
error scored Koffler. Jim Garret
hit a single bringing Skroch and
Ryan Nevala home in the third
ending the Mustang scoring for
the day.
