many unique and interesting
fund raisers to re-upholster the
pews at the church," said
pastor Stan Hoobing.
"W e hope we are newly
upholstered by February 23,
1997 because that is the 50th
anniversary of when the first
sermon in Morrow County was
preached to a group of German
Lutherans in the Lexington
area. Your support is sorely
needed," added Hoobing.

invited to attend

Lenten services
"Will Lutherans and Episco
palians have full communion in
1997? The question will be
answered in 1997 when the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America and the Episcopal
Church meet in their separate
churchwide assemblies. Mean
while, a get acquainted session
and soup and supper has been
planned for Thursday March 16
from
6-8
p.m.
in
the All Saints fellowship hall
followed by celebration of Ho
ly Eucharist at 6:45 p.m. with
a question and answer session
beginning at 7:30 p.m. This is
a second lesson in a special
series this Lenten season as
Lutherans get to know other
Christians a little better, said
Rev. Stan Hoobing.
Sunday, March 19 the
Lutherans will observe Lenten
with a Holy Communion at 9
a.m. at Valby and 11 a.m. at
Hope. Children will have Sun
day school during the worship
hour. Pastor Hoobing will
preach on the theme of "A n
Anxious Moment", based on
scripture reading of Exodus 3:
l-8b, 10-15.
Visitors, friend and members
are welcome to attend.
KUMA serves up coffee hour
. This year's KUMA Coffee
1 lour will feature an abundance
of Irish music, by both local and
out of town musicians.
The popular local group
Sager and Doherty will be back
again, delivering their usual
foot stomping sound to the
Heppner St. Patrick's Day
¿elebration.

tori Straley, John Dezell (who
played accompaniment to the
popular rendition of Danny
Roy last year), and Dallas
McKennon a popular television
and movie actor who also
sings.
Once again hosting this
year's show will be Ted Smith,
former KUMA owner, and his
sidekick Joe McLaughlin,
former mayor of Pendleton and
the best (self proclaimed) Irish
joke teller this side of the
Cascades.
In addition the Brosnans will
give a short family history, and
