devotion that these two men
had for my brother almost 30
years ago lead to such a tribute
not only to my brother David,
but to all the men who went
through the same thankless
ordeal.
I know many people feel the
young men who died half a
world away for a cause we
were not allowed to win,
died in vain. Part of me feels the
same way, but part of me says
that is not true. Although most
people felt we did not belong
in Southeast Asia, my brother,
David, knew why he was
there. I don't fully understand
that, but that is not important.
The important think was for
David to understand it, and
evidently he did. 1 do know
that he wanted to go so so
meone else would not have to.
