public meeting will be held Feb.
7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Heppner Ranger District. The
district is in the final stages of
development of these docu
ments. The interdisciplinary
team has reviewed all public
responses to the proposed pro
ject to date and has considered
them in the development of an
array of alternatives. The
meeting will provide an over
view of these alternatives. The
T-M and Hardman C&H
Allotments are located within
Grant, Morrow and Wheeler
counties.

New Forms of Migraine Garden club
Medicines Due Soon
meeting date
According to a recent report in
P harm acist sL etter, the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration will soon
approve new forms o f two pre
scription medicines used to treat
migraine headaches. The new
forms are easier to use than the
existing injectable forms of these
medicines. This is good news for
many migraine sufferers. For some,
attacks o f migraine headaches are
so severe and debilitating that
they must stop work and may be
incapacitated at home for hours or
even days. The two dosage forms
approved are a tablet form of sum
atriptan (Im itrex) and a nasal spray
form of dihydroergotamine (DHE-
45).
Sumatript; n is a relatively new
prescription m edicine for m i
graine headaches. This medicine
stimulates serotonin receptors, re
sulting in a constriction o f select
blood vessels in the brain. Shrink
ing these vessels relieves migraine
pain. One drawback with this medi
cine is that headaches may recur
(the medicine is short acting). And
it shou ld not be used by persons
with a history of heart disease.
Dihydroergotamine (DH E) works
a lot like sumatriptan. However,
until the nasal spray form is ap
proved and available, it also must
be given by injection. Sumatriptan
and DHE should not be used to
gether. Combined actions of both
medicines could lead to chest pain
and high blood pressure.
The Heppner Garden Club
will meet Monday, Feb. 6 at the
St. Patrick's senior center. The
program topic will be table set
tings, focusing on flower ar
rangements, dishes, glassware
and table coverings. Also in
cluded will be ideas for all
seasons, a variety of ac
cessories, and many styles from
the formal dining room to a
tailgate in serving outdoor
meals. Guests are welcome.
Gun Club

managment of livestock graz
ing on the T-M and Hardman
C&H Allotments. These plans
would provide for the im
plementation of an intensive
management system based on
aquatic, rangelands, and timber
ecosystems and sensitive,
threatened or endangered
species or their habitat.

Lacy at the Heppner Ranger
