The class of ‘89-91 won the alumni tournament trophy for the second year in a row. The team
consists of: l-r Bobby Krein, Doug Devin, Russell Britt, Slater Mitchell, Bryan Padberg, Corey Grabeel,
Dick Devin and Duane Ball. They played in the championship game against the class of ‘92-94
and won easily.

Graveside services for
Howard W. Cleveland were
held Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the
Masonic Cemetery in Heppner.
Mr. Cleveland, 76, of Silver-
ton, formerly of Heppner, died
Sunday, Jan. 1, 1995 at his
home.
He was born Dec. 14, 1918 at
Gresham to Wendell and Grace
Cleveland. He moved to
Hepner in 1921 with his fami
ly and attended Heppner
schools. He graduated from
Heppner High School and at
tended Oregon State Universi
ty where he was a member of
Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraterni
ty. He returned to the family
ranch at Heppner in 1940.
He married Ruth Webb in
1942 and the couple continued
ranching until 1967.
Mr. Cleveland became a
builder and built several
duplexes and homes in
Heppner.
He was active with the school
board and a member of the Elks
Lodge 358.
In 1990 the Clevelands mov
ed to Silverton.
His wife, Ruth and a son
Charles, died earlier. Survivors
include sons John of Hillsboro
and Tom of Pendleton; a
daughter Nancy Welborn of
Silverton; six grandchildren
and one great-grandaughter.
Unger Funeral Chapel, 229,
Mill St., Silverton was in
charge of arrangements.
Funeral service for Erma M.
Scott will be held Thursday,
Jan. 5 at the Mueller's Chapel
of the Falls in Kennewick, Wa.
Graveside service will follow at
the Masonic Cemetery, Hepp
ner at 2 p.m.
Erma M. Scott, 72, Ken
newick ,WA, died Monday,
Jan. 2, 1995 at her home.
She was bom May 2, 1922 in
Heppner, to William and Elma
Scott.
She was a member of the
First Christian Church in Pasco,
WA. and past president of the
Tri-Cities Emblem Club
#322. She was also state cor
responding secretary to the
Emblem Club. She was retired
as a data entry clerk for
Washington Public Power
Supply System.
She is survived by her
mother Elma Scott at their
home in Kennewick; a brother
Bill Scott of Heppner; sisters
Doris Davis of Pendleton and
Aileen Nisbet of Wasco; an
aunt and uncle Ethel and Neal
Knighten of Kennewick and
numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins.
